This was excellent! Not overly sweet and a great combo of fruit. I did add a touch of cinnamon to the fruit before baking. I didn't have turbinado sugar, so I just sprinkled some brown sugar over the biscuits.
A definite keeper!!
Edited to add: It is VERY soupy though, put a cookie sheet or foil underneath the dish while baking!!

I too thought this was excellent ! I brought it to a July 4th barbeque yesterday and it went fast with lots of rave reviews. It was the first time using turbinado sugar. I never even heard of it before and was surprised to find it in my local market.
So far my favorite recipe from July 03'. It's a keeper.:D

Another positive review here! Took it to DH's birthday dinner at my mom/dad's along with the deep dish cherry pie (from june or july i can't remember) and it this was a hit! The lemon rind in the topping made it the best i have ever had and i used frozen fruit cause i was feeling lazy! Very tasty!

This recipe sounds delicious, and now I can't wait to make it. Thanks for all the reviews!

I thought it was good, but not great. I've had other peach cobblers that I like better. My cobbler part had a good taste, but they were really hard. Not sure what I did wrong.

Angela,
My cobbler part was soft and cake like. Not hard at all. Hum......

i thought the batter for the topping was really soupy as i was making it and was afraid it wouldn't bake right, but it was soft and dense-cake like too--the milk seemed like too much but it worked! Hope this helps!

I finally found decent peaches and blackberries and was planning on making this tonight. But I have a few questions: does this keep well? Could I freeze it for later? 12 servings is a lot; we'd probably never finish all of it. Has anyone halved the recipe? I guess I could always make the whole recipe and bring it into work.....I think I am selfishly wanting this one all to myself! :o

Great cobbler, I loved the biscuits on top!
I halved this recipe, which worked fine. Do use a baking sheet underneath as I came back to my oven with a smoky smell, a little bit had dripped and burned a lovely circle on the bottom of my oven (luckily it's old) .
The only thing I forgot to half in this recipe was the honey, so my cobbler was very sweet. :D

Delicious! Not too sweet, and I loved the flavor of the lemon zest in the biscuit crust. I was actually running low on both honey and granulated sugar, so I think I used a tad less than the recipe called for. Also, I didn't have any turbinado sugar---I used brown instead (obviously I need to go to the grocery store! ). Great summertime dessert. :)
