Naomi- thanks for starting the July thread!

Lara - I was also glad to read your good news about your appt yesterday. I'm sure that felt like a big weight was lifted off your's and DH's shoulders.

Not much new here. Just started my 6th month. I have my regular checkup next week, but everything's still going fine.

Hope everyone is doing well in the heat and humidity. Enjoy your holiday weekends and take it easy!

Thank you everyone, I can't tell you how much I appreciate all of your thoughtfulness.

Sue, you are right that we feel like a big weight has been lifted from our shoulders. Both of us were so exhausted last night - neither of us slept that great Monday or Tuesday nights and we just crashed last night. We needed it! :)

Hope you are surviving OK in the heat! We have had 3 days in a row where the news people keep saying "its the hottest day so far this year!" Our a/c has been getting a workout.

Naomi, yes we did get some pictures of our little cutie. Not that we're biased or anything ;) :p

DH and I are leaving tomorrow for a long weekend in Ft. Collins. We're not totally sure what all we're going to do, but I am glad that we got the ultrasound done before our trip. Now we can enjoy it.

Have a great holiday weekend everyone!

Welcome Hedy! Looks like we could be in the hospital around the same time!

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! We had an OK weekend. We hadn't made any plans to do anything specific- so we really just lazed around and spent the weekend with DD. It was very relaxing- and nice. I'm sad it's Monday and DH is back to work. I am anxiously awaiting our county fair this week. It's in the town we live in, and all of the sudden I'm not feeling quite as nauseous- so I'm looking forward to familiarizing myself with all of the food vendors. The gates open tomorrow- I can't wait!

This past weekend I found myself able to look through the last few issues of CL without feeling like I had to throw up- so I'm hopefully nearing the end of this sick phase. I've pretty much figured out though that I will not be eating much meat the rest of my pregnancy. Maybe a little chicken or turkey- but everything else is off limits according to baby. Oh well- hopefully I'll still be able to prepare the red meats for DH- he would just kill for a good steak right now.

Anyway- we're looking forward to it cooling down a bit this week- I hope everyone else is staying cool!

Welcome Hedy! I am just a few weeks ahead of you!

Erika, glad to hear that you are finally feeling better. What a drag that yuckiness is!

Well, I am excited to report that I am pretty sure I felt the baby move this morning! I was just getting ready to get up this morning and felt a distinct flutter in my belly. That was so cool. Hopefully I was not dreaming it! I crawled into bed after my shower and had DH put his hand on my belly for a few minutes to see if he/she would do it again, but no dice. Oh well, I am sure that will happen soon enough.

Lara-
That's so exciting!!! I am so anxious to feel that again! Have no fears though- soon enough it will seem that baby NEVER stops moving, and DH will get plenty of opportunity to feel the moving and kicking.:D

Welcome Hedy and congrats!

Erika- I had the same problem w/meat this time around, but never had that happen w/DD #1. Now I can eat beef, but still can't really stomach chicken or pork. Which is weird, because normally I don't eat much beef! I could not read cookbooks or even watch FoodTV for the longest time at the beginning!

Just had my monthly checkup and all is fine. Next month I get the sugar test done. My OBs office has had 2 drs leave w/in the past month. Now they are down to 2 full time and 1 part time. I am worried that at this rate the receptionist will be delivering this child!

Have a good week and stay cool everyone! :)

Hi all! This thread has been quiet - hope everyone is doing well.

I am almost 23 weeks. I can't believe how it is flying by. I am starting to think about all the details that have to be covered before November, and I am feeling overwhelmed. The baby equipment alone sets my head spinning. There is just SO MUCH stuff out there - how in the world do you decide what is really necessary? Do any of you have a list you went by or a website that helped? I just don't know where to start.

Other than that, I am feeling good and enjoying this stage of pregnancy. I'm not terribly big yet, and everyone tells me how cute I am. Love that!!

Hi there,

I am about 8.5 weeks along now. Last Tuesday,I had my second ultrasound & it was so wonderful to see our little one! Everything looked great-- size, heartbeat, etc. The doctor did find what he thinks is a pretty substantial fibroid. Do any of you have any expereince with fibroids, or know someone who has? There is so much information out there & so much of it contradictory, that I was starting to make myself crazy.

Have a great week everyone!

P.S. My doctor was better this time. Thank goodness:)

Hi ladies! My name is Corinne, and I am due on Halloween with my second child. My DD is 15 months. The ultrasound shows that we are having a baby boy!!!! I normally hang out around the Great Food board. I am so hungry all of the time, and I'm always looking for great new recipes. I look forward to getting to know you guys.

I'm also delurking to add myself to the list of those expecting in January, on the 10th for me. I'm at about 14 1/2 weeks now. Seems like there is quite a crowd of then. I'm definitely feeling perkier these days, although still pretty tired. Many thanks to those of you who have been on the list for awhile-- reading your experiences helped me feel not quite so weird and crazy!

DH and I just had our first OB/Gyn appointment yesterday with the OB nurse. I guess it's official! We're due March 5th. I'm 7 weeks pregnant! (our first)

This has come as a bit of a surprise. We weren't trying but weren't NOT trying so...surprise! I'm still a little shocked but I'm calming down. It's weird. I feel different but yet I don't feel different. Very hard to explain.

I'm feeling fine though. I was eating lots and lots of fresh summertime fruits and veggies before I knew (and lots of fish and chicken) and I won't change anything now! I'm STARVING every 2-3 hours though. Having pasta for lunch today with some peas, proscuitto and parmesan and my mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Wow!

Welcome to all the new Mom's-to-be! We really have been quiet lately- so be sure and stick around.

There's really nothing new here either. I think I'm feeling a little more energetic these days. But I still have major food aversions. I have noticed in the last few days that I'm really starting to look the part. Of course, I'm not fitting into my normal clothing, and I'm certainly not blossomed enough for maternity clothes. So I'm at that awkward stage of nothin to wear. It's been a lot of stretch pants and t-shirts this week. Oh well.

Erika, Have you had the food aversions the whole time? I'm eating like a horse right now. The only thing that I've got a slight aversion to is Mexican food (which I normally love). I'm wondering if this is a temporary stage and I'll have major aversions soon. I know, I know, everyone's different....

Linda, (jumping in here) everyone is different yada yada, but I was fine until week 7 and suddenly I was tired & kind of nauseous all day. The past couple of weeks have been much better. Last week I actually planned out a couple of meals in advance-- very exciting since I couldn't even look at recipes for a while. Hope you keep feeling good.

Linda-
When I was pregnant with DD, my only aversion was red meat. But this time, around 6 weeks was when I started with this aversion. With DD #1 it lasted the whole pregnancy. But with this one, I've already noticed some going away- like my aversion to green vegetables. Thank God! My garden is beginning to produce, and I'd be so mad if I had to miss it! But the meat in general I thnk will probably stick around the whole time. I'm at 14 weeks now- so it's been almost 2 months of not eating much. But it is improving.

Interestingly- among all the people I know who've been pregnant or are pregnant, no one else has had food aversions. Just your average morning sickness and cravings. I'm seriously wishing for some cravings.:D

You can add me to the January list! I am due January 13th so I am about 15 weeks. I have a little boy who is 8 1/2 months old so you could say it's a little bit of a surpirse. The shock factor has worn off and now we are very excited. My morning sickness is finally starting to weaken (thank goodness!) and am getting some energy back.

I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you!

Jorgan, I feel your pain! DD is 26 months and DS is 12 months. Yikes! It's all good! You'll love it!

I posted on the Other Stuff board, but I want to remind all of you here to please have your infant car seats inspected to make sure that they are installed in your cars correctly. DH ran into three people just in the past 2 weeks who all had the seats installed incorrectly. If you call your local police station, they can tell you who does the inspections. We had ours inspected by the woman who ran our lamaze class since she was certified to do that. Also, once every 2 months or so, our daycare has the police do inspections right in the parking lot of the school. It's so important!

Baby Alina arrived on the morning of July 19--a little earlier than expected but in great health. :) We got home from the hospital yesterday and are doing well. DS finds the baby fascinating and imitates her crying when she cries, so our house has been kind of noisy at times!

At any rate, having a newborn in the house again has just been wonderful. The baby makes DS look like such a big boy! And I must admit, so far taking care of a newborn again seems easier than taking care of DS! I guess it just depends on what you're used to . . .

Hope the rest of you are doing well, and congratulations to those of you who are newly pregnant! I can't believe my second pregnancy is officially over (yay)!

Hey, everyone...I have a pair of black capri pants (brand: In Due Time size M) that have never been worn except to try on. I washed them and they shrunk in the dryer and while they fit me, I don't like how they fit.

I was going to just buy another pair in size large, but I thought if anyone here could use them, I could send them your way. PM me if you are interested.

I haven't had a lot of time to post recently, but wanted to let everyone know that our litle guy arrived!

Joshua Daniel
2:07 p.m. 6/26/03
8 lbs 2 oz
20 inches

He's got reddish hair and his big brother is totally fascinated by him! It's definitely more work with two, but I couldn't be happier that we had this so close together!

Anyway, the breastfeeding has been going really well and at the two week appt he was up to 9 lbs 1 oz already! The dr was really pleased with that! Just wanted to let anyone who has had concerns about breastfeeding know that it's not always difficult to get started. Just relax and go with the "flow"!

Hope everyone is feeling well and congratulations to all new moms and babies that I have missed during the last month!

just popping in to say congrats :) and comment on this observation ;) .
Like Susan, my 2 middle sons (now teenagers) are 14 months apart; when Collin was born, all of a sudden I couldn't believe how big Drew was!!! Of course, he was just a toddler, but he looked so much bigger next to a newborn :D :D

And isn't it amazing how different each of your pregnancies can be? I never had ANY problems with a certain food until my last pregnancy  . I absolutely couldn't stand the smell of coffee, and it was and still is one of my favorite smells (and tastes!). Good thing that went away after a few months!
