Just came across this recipe and thought it looked wonderful!

For an alcohol-free dessert, use orange juice in place of the tequila in the fluffy cream cheese dip.

This was sooo yummy! Some friends of ours had a casual Mexican dinner party last night for several couples and their kids and I took this dip. I garnished the top of the dip with lime zest and would have used orange zest too but the oranges looked terrible at my grocery store. I made a few changes, so here are the ingredients I used...

1/2 cup light dairy sour cream
1 (3 ounce) package light cream cheese, softened
5-6 T. sifted powdered sugar
1 tablespoon orange juice
1 tablespoon or so frozen Bacardi margarita mix, thawed
1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
1/2 cup whipping cream
fresh lime and orange zest to garnish
fresh pineapple, green grapes and red grapes

I just made the dip in my KA mixer and whipped it pretty good after adding the cream. This would also be wonderful with other fruits...but at my grocery store strawberries were too expensive, the kiwis were under-ripe, and the cantaloupe didn't look or smell too great. And I didn't make kabobs either. Oh and I set out a bowl of teddy grahams and they tasted yummy with the dip also.

FYI...I had some with my lunch today and it was also wonderful with banana slices.

Here's a similar recipe that I thought also looked good...

Margarita Fruit Dip

1 8-oz. pkg. cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup frozen margarita drink mix, thawed
2 Tbsp. orange juice
1 tsp. grated lime or lemon peel, if desired
1/4 cup whipping cream, whipped

In a medium bowl, beat together softened cream cheese, margarita mix, orange juice and lime peel until smooth. Fold whipped cream into mixture until well blended. Cover and chill 1 hour to blend flavors. Serve dip with strawberries, cherries, peach slices and other fresh fruit. 12 servings

I need a fat free dessert for a party this weekend and am wondering if this recipe would work with ff cream cheese, ff sour cream, and then ff half & half in place of the whipping cream. What do you think?

Hmmm...well, I think ff sour cream would work fine. I don't really have any experience with ff cream cheese because I don't like the way it tastes, but if it tastes fine to you I think it would work. Now the ff half and half...I have no idea. I had some in the fridge and toyed with the idea of using it in place of the cream, but I chickened out. I didn't know if it would whip or fluff up like cream. Please post a review if you try it. I would love to eliminate the cream next time if it works.

Thanks, Linda.
I'm fine with the ff cream cheese. Some of the people at the party need to be totally ff and they don't complain at all about ff cream cheese. But, I've never used ff half & half and have very limited experience with regular half & half (have only bought it when the inlaws are here because they want it in their coffee) so have no idea if it whips or not.

I wonder if I could cheat and leave out the half & half but whip everything else up and then fold in ff Cool Whip. I know it would end up being fake food but maybe it would work? What do you think?

Now there's an idea. You could just fold in about a cup of ff cool whip. I think that would work fine.

The only concern I have with the ff half and half is that it might make the dip too liquidy/loose. Let us know what you do.

OK, that's what I'll do (use ff cool whip). I'll let you know how it turns out after this weekend.

I'm also going to make the Cappuccino Fudge Cheesecake.:o How's the for the other end of the fat spectrum!:D
