Forgive me if this has been addressed, but didn't have the time to search thru all of the threads:
The new bread machines make horizontal loaves which is nice visually, but does it make a difference taste-wise when compared to the vertical loaves of the old machines?
I am considering buying a breadmachine/toaster-oven combo which got good reviews on epinion.com. But it does not do the horizontal loaves and I am wondering if that is important tastewise or does it just make for a nicer presentation.

Hi almiter,
IMHO it would taste the same, but the look of it would be better for 'presentation' in the horizontal machine. I personally don't care what fresh bread looks like as long as I get to eat it! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.giflol!
I admit I probably wouldn't cook as much, make, or try recipes as often if I didn't have my breadmachine. I love mine; it's a vertical btw..I'm probably not much of a help to you but I wish you luck choosing one! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif Zinnia

My husband bought me a breadmaker that also doubled as an oven (broiled, toasted, baked, etc) and I was very unhappy with it. The bread pan would get stuck in the oven every time I tried to use it. He did exchange it once and the second one does the same thing. Of course, he doesn't know what he did with the receipt, so it sits in my basement most of the time. I don't remember the brand off hand, but if you would like, I'll look tonight and let you know tomorrow. I did pull it out last night because my oven died! I had never heard of these combination bread machines before so I don't know how many different kinds there are, but I did want to pass along my experience.

That would be great if you could find out the brand name. I have seen two different brands of this type so am curious if yours is the same brand that I'm considering. thanks!

The one that I have is a Toastmaster "Toaster Oven Broiler and Automatic Breadmaker" and is either a model 1139 or 1141S. Hopefully if you decide to get one you will have better luck with them than I did. I love the concept.
