I am an avid milk drinker, and I'd like to switch over to soy or rice milk. Does anyone have any suggestions for your favorite brands/flavors (for drinking as well as adding to cereal)? So far I have tried Silk original and chocolate, as well as Rice Dream original enriched. Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
In my co-op, those are the two leading sellers http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif You may want to be aware many soy milks are heavily sweetened. If that is important than try Wesbrae unsweetened. That is the only one I know that has no sugar. You may also want to try the vanilla flovored variations on cereal. My favorite is however Vita-Soy, especially rich cocoa flavor. Then there is always rice or oat milk! The choices are endless.

I like plain flavored Silk best for soy milk, and plain flavored Rice Dream for rice milk. The Silk brand's soy milk seems less brown than other brands to me, which has a huge effect on how appetizing it is to me. Mostly, though, I prefer rice milk for drinking straight and soy for cooking.
When I first went non-dairy, I could only stand to drink the vanilla flavored rice milk, but now it's a bit too sweet for me and I like the plain Rice Dream better. All of the chocolate versions are delicious and rich tasting, but I'm vaguely concerned that the chocolate interferes with calcium absorption.

My daughter is allergic to cow's milk and we use Rice Dream Original enriched. We tried the soy milks and just did not like the flavor (I tried! I just can't do it!!!) We are a big dairy family, cheese, milk etc in everything so this has been difficult. I found the rice dream to be the most palatable, it is sweeter than regular milk as mentioned before, but that's not all bad... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
I have found a soy yogurt called "Whole Soy" that we all like, even my husband and I who are not allergic like that one. I bake with the rice dream vanilla, or sometimes the soy silk vanilla.
Hope this helps!

I've found that I like the flavor of Rice Dream best, but want the health benefits of soy. I buy Edensoy most often. I'll have to try Silk. I find that I like the ones with some fat in them better. I like the "mouth feel". I agree about the sweetness and only buy the plain flavor.
Unlike what's mentioned on another thread, I can't stand soy milk in coffee and rely on coffeemate (non-dairy) for this. Believe it or not, my aunt uses coffeemate when she makes mashed potatoes and they're very tasty!

If you are lucky enough to be near a Trader Joe's grocery store, their brand of Vanilla Soymilk is far and away my very favorite. Otherwise we drink Vanilla Westsoy or Silk soy milks.
Insofar as rice milk is concerned, we rather fancy Pacific's nonfat Vanilla rice milk-- especially good on breakfast cereal!

I've found that the WestBrae Cafe flavors (Coffee, mocha) are very appealing to the most avid "anti soy" tastebuds. My husband and I have started drinking this in the morning with our breakfast... tastes a lot like Frappuccino.
