Good Morning Everyone!!!

This morning's coffee is Columbian Supreme.

I'm off work today. Vlad's got to go to the vet for a senior screening to check his kidney function. He's been doing great so I'm sure everything will look good. After that I'm taking the girls Blueberry Picking! It should be fun. We have a few errands to run this afternoon then I have to cook dinner and make a pie for supper club. So, I'll be in and out today.

Tomorrow is my nephew's birthday party and supper club. Sunday is just Church and grocery shopping and resting up for next weekend.

We've told Ginger that she can have a sleepover next weekend. She's invited 3 other girls and so far one girl can attend. Ginger says that another friend can come, but I haven't heard from one of her parents yet so I'm not sure. It should be fun. The lady who called last night said her daughter would not have spoken to her today if she didn't call. Her daughter and Ginger have been together since the infant room (over 5 years) and will be separated this year as they attend different elementary schools.

Oh, Otis is/was jealous of Peggy's new avatar so he asked me to help him find a new one. :D

Good Morning. This weekend should another long one of sleeping, eating, and drooling (sorry Mom).

Oh, and Leigh did help me find a new avatar. What do you think? It's part of dad's antique collection. :D

Good Morning Leigh and all who post after!

I have exciting news! I am going to be an AUNT!!! Yay! :D My brother and his wife just told us this week. I am technically an aunt now, Ray's brother has a little girl, but we see her 1 day a year and don't really talk to his brother or wife. This baby, we will see probably once a month or so. S/he will know us and everything.

Nothing much for us this weekend. I need to study for my new product. I also need to do some organizing/cleaning :(

Leigh, blueberry picking will be fun! Hope the vet visit goes ok.

Otis, love the new avatar! (you really should steal your mom's!)

LOL! I had a feeling that new avatar was going to come back and haunt me!

Leigh your day sounds great. I've never been blueberry picking. To be perfectly honest I don't know if they even grow around here. I suppose they do, but I've never thought about it.

I don't have much in the way of plans this weekend. I was supposed to go camping with my sister and 2 nieces but they had to cancel.

So tonight Dh= and I are going to something called A Bikers BBQ at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. Don't ask me what it is, because I have no idea. I assume it will involve music and bbq, but I'm not sure what else. It is right after work.

Tomorrow John is going to the Indians game and I don't have any plans. I probably should clean, but I'm thinking about something girlie to do. Any suggestions. It's probably to late to get an appt for a facial or pedicure. And I'm not much of a shopper. We're supposed to have decent weather so something outside would be great. I'll have to grab a newspaper later today and take a look.

Sunday no plans.

Congratulations Molli! I remember when I found out I had my very first niece! I ran around like a loon, but then again I was only 6 years old!

Oh, I have been telling everyone. A little baby for me to hold!

Peggy, are there any beauty schools around you? Most around here are walk-in only, so maybe you could get a nice treatment of some sort?

Well, it looks like the klatch has gone to the dogs this morning. :D

Otis,
I was happy to help. Looks good. :D

Molli,
Congrats on becoming an Aunt!

Peggy,
Too bad the camping trip was cancelled, but the game BBQ sounds like fun. We haven't been to a game in a few years as the free ticket sources have dried up due to the economy.

I used to go blueberry and blackberry picking all the time when I was little. There are quite a few farms around here. Ginger want's Blueberry Muffins for breakfast at her sleepover so we'll pick them today.

Wish me luck. I just put my resume in the mail for a new job. I have a friend who is a library director at a 2 year college in town and she's got an opening at her library.

Hello everyone :)

Molli, congrats! It's wonderful to be close enough (physically AND emotionally) a sibling so that you have a loving relationship with your neices or nephs- We have some we're close to and some not- I regret not having a relationship with the ones we seldom see.

Peggy, the BBQ sounds awesome! I would like to go to the Hall of Fame sometime.

Leigh, sounds like a busy one, but fun.

We are heading back to the Berkshires for the weekend. DH has pneumonia and has been sick for 8 days :( He finally began feeling much better yesterday, so hopefully it will continue in that direction. He goes back to see doc for the 3rd x on Monday, and is hoping to be back to work Tuesday. Doc said he might as well relax in the Berks as well as in Boston, so we're going. My sister will be joining us there too, so I'm excited about that. We'll do some lazy kayaking on the lake and hopefully find and auction in the area.

Hope everyone has a good and refreshing weekend!

Good morning Leigh, Molli, Peggy and Otis! :)

Leigh - have fun blueberry picking and good luck on the job situation

Peggy - have fun tonight at the BBQ!

Molli- congrats on being an aunt. Hard to believe it's been 15 years since I became one!

Not too much planned this weekend. If the rain holds off we'll visit the various Arts Fests going on in the area. Tomorrow our friends are having a party at their house and her DH's band will be playing, so it should be a lot of fun. Next week DH will be gone all week (LA, Detroit and Indianapolis is 5 days - ugh), so I guess we'll just hang out and due the family thing this weekend.

I'm so excited because we looked at a house last night and are seriously thinking about putting an offer on it. It's further away from town, but bigger and w/a larger lot. And the best part is the kitchen's bigger and it has a pantry. :) I'm crossing my fingers that things might work out! (I don't even want to think about having to get our house ready to sell though! )

Have a great weekend everyone!

Morning everyone! This weekend i packed for me. Saturday I have my teacher certification exams (wish me luck! they are trying to condense all-the-math-i've-ever-learned into 100 multiple choice questions), then Mary Kate will arrive and we will head across the border for a Great Big Sea concert! Sunday morning is Klatch with MK, Molli, Cheryl, and Sandy. Yikes!

Have fun everyone!

Morning all!

I'm running a little late today, so I won't have time to respond to everyone at the moment -- but I'll be back later!

Molli, congrats on aunthood!

Ellyn, glad to hear that DH is doing better!! Say hello to Frygirl (Ellyn's sister) for me! :D

This weekend will be devoted to childproofing the house and filling out the rest of the paperwork that we'll have to bring down to Guatemala. It's pretty overcast here today; hope we're not continuing the New England tradition of rainy weekends.

See y'all later!!

Good morning all! Wow, 11 posts and it's not even 8:00!

Molli - how exciting to be an aunt! None of DH's brothers or my brother have any kids. My brother's wife has a son from her first marriage, but his dad has custody in Canada so we never see him.

Ellyn - glad DH is on the mend. The absolute worst thing in the world is a man with a cold. You know the attitude, one sneeze and they think they should be in the ICU, they moan, whine, leave all their tissues in one huge germ-pile on the floor and want to be waited on hand and foot! So when they're really sick, it's really bad. The weather for the weekend is supposed to improve over today's for your weekend in the Berkshires.

Leigh - our blueberry picking season is in August. We haven't even gotten around to picking strawberries yet. It's funny the differences in seasons that geography can make. How's the car??

Sue - what fun to find a new/bigger house! I think we're in ours for the long haul. We still don't have any news on our kitchen expansion. We're still searching for different, less-expensive-without-sacrificing-quality contractors.

this weekend is DD's play (finally!). Performances are tonight, Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. She's had rehearsal every night this week from 5:30 - 9 (which has stretched to 9:45). She's wiped at night and so am I. I have to get dinner cooked and eaten between the time I get home from work 4:30 til when we have to be out the door 5:15. I've been prepping in the morning and giving DD cooking instructions via cell phone as I drive home. Surprisingly it's been working out great.

My friend and I are going to Haymarket in Boston tomorrow morning early when all the farmers are in town to sell vegetables (mostly). I used to go a long time ago when I lived in the city. It's so cheap, the only drawback is that if they're selling something 10 / $1.00, they make you buy 10. That's why we're going together, so we can split it up if we have to buy more of something than we can use.

Hi to everyone who's posting at the same time as me!

Loren

Thanks Molli, but I'd have to get on the road awfully early. I hope you guys have a great time and make sure to tell everyone I said Hi!

Ellyn you weekend sounds great. Sorry about the hubby, but how nice that he has a more than pleasant sounding place to rest and relax this weekend. If you ever make it to Cleve to the Rock hall, I'd love to meet you. Be warned (Kathryn can confirm this) there are alot of guitars there!

Sue that house sounds awsome. I love everything about my house Ijust wish we had a slightly bigger yard.

Bethany have a great time at the show. And sorry I can't make the klatch.

Helene...I'm basically still just walking on air over your news. Thanks again for sharing the pics with us from your first trip to Guatamala! Victor is a cutey!

Loren I hope your daughters show is great. Is she nervous? The market sounds great, we have on in Cleveland that is similar. They don't make you buy what ever the deal is, but sometimes I forget and then I'm loaded down with tons of veggies.

Molli526

That's what I should do tomorrow is check out the Farmer's market. We have one that draws some good vendors. I would love some fresh produce. I think there are still some MI strawberries around.

Mornin' everyone,

Leigh - so how blue do you think your girls will be??? Have fun!

Peggy - Sorry your camping plans fell through but The Bikers BBQ sounds fun....Bikers...like me???

Molli - congrats on being an aunt. My brother and his wife are expecting twins any week now.

Not much planned this weekend. My house and car are a mess 'cuz I'm always on the bike!! But my bike's shiny. Tomorrow I am going to clean and cook up some food to freeze for my brother and his wife. I think they may need it. We have a ride planned on Sunday....of coarse.

Hi Sue, Ellyn, Loren, Helene, Bethany and anyone I missed.

Good morning!

Leigh, your blueberry-picking plans have given me an idea of what I might like to do on Saturday! I missed strawberry picking this year but I am determined not to miss the blueberries. Helene posted a FABULOUS blueberry pie recipe on the "recipes so good you stopped looking for more" thread and I plan to make it several more times this summer. :)

Ellyn, glad your DH is feeling better and that you're able to go to the Berkshires.

Helene- childproofing! I spent a good bit of time doing childproofing in the little-kid area of the museum I worked in. It is incredible what kids can manage to get into. You will see your home in a whole new way-and it's a good way, of course. :)

Loren, the Haymarket sounds like my kind of place! Good idea to go with a friend.

Bethany, good luck on your test!!!

Congratulations Molli! My sister is bugging me for a "niecelet" as she says (this is partially in jest but partially in earnest). She lives across the country but I hope we will find ways to spend more time with extended family when we have kids. I don't want my parents and sister to be virtual strangers to my children!

Peggy, that event at the R&R Hall of Fame sounds interesting. We went there for my FIL's 50th b-day a few years ago- it was his dream trip.

All I can say about this week being over is PHEW!!! Monday I was in Allentown, Tuesday in Ithaca, Wednesday in Allentown, yesterday in Philadelphia. Today I'm staying in New Jersey, thank you very much! :D

Our weekend should be fun. Today we are picking up our new car- YAY!!! Goodbye cr*ppy old Jetta! I have to go get everything out of it so it's ready to be traded.

Our 1st anniversary is on Sunday. I'm having a hard time believing the wedding was already a year ago! We are going into NYC for brunch and a matinee of The Producers on Broadway.

Molli - congratulations on becoming an aunt (soon)! Can't wait to see you on Sunday.

Stephanie - Happy anniversary!!

Wow, lots of posts already. This will have to be quick so I"m not to late for work. :)

Molli-congratulations on being an aunt! It's so much fun. You can spoil them and then send them home. :)

Leigh--I think our blueberry picking season is over here and I missed it once again. There's a patch about an hour away that I always plan to go to. :( Maybe next year. Have fun!! Do you plan on making anything special with them or just eating them straight?
Good luck on the potential new job.

Otis--Harley saw your pick and said Hi. He's jealous because he doesn't have his own screen name.

Bethany--Good luck on your exam!

Sue--A pantry sounds awesome. Yes, I have a little kitchen w/ no pantry myself. My next house I will definitely get a better kitchen!

Helene--Your little boy is going to be a looker ;)! Have fun preparing for his arrival. If you get rain, send some this way!!

Hello to everyone else I missed!!!

Well, it's going to be a hot, hot, hot here this weekend. We are under a heat advisory here today and tomorrow. So, whatever I do will be done inside. I think the heat indexes will be 105-110. And my lawn needs mowing. Any takers? I hate when it is this hot.

I have lots of errands to do tomorrow. I leave a week from tomorrow for camp and have to get last minute stuff and get packed. I hope to be mostly packed, except for some clothes, by Sunday. That's rare for me to not wait until the last minute. DBF gets back in town Monday night, so I hope to get to spend some QT with him before I leave. We've almost made it through these long 6 weeks of him being gone...btw, my visit w/ his family last weekend was great. I was invited back. :)

Gotta run for now. I'll check back in later.

Congrats on the anniversary and the new car Stephanie!

I also forgot to say I'm hitting a farmer's market myself tomorrow. It's a new one in a suburb next to mine. I went on their first day, but there wasn't much and it was disorganized. I've heard it's better now. Sure beats driving to downtown Dallas (25 miles) where the market is somewhat commercial and you don't feel like you are buying from the farmer's themselves. I love farmer's markets!! I can't wait until I have my own garden.

Hello everyone,

My kids seem to be sleeping in today, so I got to catch up on email and join the klatch, and IM my hubby who is in OH.

Molli, Congrats on being an aunt, if my sister is any indication, it is the best to live close to you niece/nephew. I have 2 kids and she adores them, spoils them rotten.

Leigh- I have been wanting to take the kids berry picking, but we haven't had the chance yet. We got a flat of organic MI strawberries through our CSA (they found a source and it was a good price) so we decided not to go pick strawberries. Right now is cherries, but we are leaving for vacation Sunday, so I don't know if I have time to go before then. Also, blueberries aren't until the end of the month here. Have fun, I love blueberry picking.

Bethany--Good luck on your exam, have fun at the concert and the Klatch.

Helene--OH the pictures of Victor are adorable, congrats.

Hello anyone I missed.

We have a busy weekend here. My girlfriend is having a scrapbooking open house event today, so the kids and I are going to stop by for a bit. Then I have to get DS's hair cut and go to the CSA to pick up our disbursement. DH is coming home from OH today, but I don't know what time. The lawn needs to be mowed because our lawn guy couldn't make it because his father died, which is horrible, but DH will have to mow the lawn, I can't because of allergies.

We have to get the house and dog ready because we are leaving on Sunday to go to CA for a week. We also have to pack and do laundry.

Saturday, DH is going to the CSA to get our monthly hours in while I work on packing and have a new cleaning person come to give an estimate. Saturday night will be fun, some good friends that moved to NC five or so years ago are in town, so some other mutual friends are having a get-together. We haven't seen these friends since DD was just home from the hospital. So nearly five years. They will be surprised to see how big she is and that we have DS.

Sunday we leave for CA, traveling on a plane with two kids is going to be an experience. DH has a training class in CA next week so we are tagging along. We couldn't pass it up because we had Frequent flyer miles for my ticket, and MIL/FIL paid for DD's ticket, they are joining us midweek. My SIL lives in CA, so we are going to spend time with her and MIL/FIL and go to the zoo, disney, etc. I also have relatives whom we are going to visit.

Have a good weekend everyone.

Lisa

Morning everyone!
No coffee yet for me. I happened to check the klatch first and noticed that you guys are already well on the way toward infinity... so I had to write first, before things got out of hand :D

Molli - VERY COOL that you're going to be an aunt! Being one has been really rewarding for me... it's great fun buying gifts for kids, especially when they're small :) And dressing them is particularly cool! Have FUN with it!

Leigh - Have fun at that sleepover :)

Peggy - You'll have to tell us what your Biker's BBQ is like. I can't even imagine from the name!!

Sue - Good luck with putting in that offer on the house, should you decide to :) That new kitchen sounds fabulous!

Bethany - I'm sending you good vibes for your teaching exam. Is it the PRAXIS II? Or something similar? I have no doubts that you'll do just fine!!

Ellyn - Sending good healing vibes to your DH! It's good to hear that things are looking up!!

Loren - Have fun at the play... and at the markets! We're planning on touring the city's Farmer's markets this weekend ourselves. Should be a good time... and it's always a great feeling to have the fridge stocked with all sorts of fresh produce for the week!

Stephanie - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! Doesn't that first year just FLY? I can't believe that we're in year five already... it begins to make one feel old

A big fat HEY to Helene, Sandy, HDgirl, and Jen! Hope you all have fantastic Fridays... and great weekends!!

As for me, I'm planning on finishing up the dining room wallpaper, which I started last weekend. We ran out of paper 1/2 way through (due to my exceptional math skills, and irregularly sized rolls of paper), and the new shipment arrived yesterday. So, that will be a relief to have finished.

We're also going to Farmer's Markets on Saturday... and will hopefully be going to BASTILLE DAYS, a big French festival they hold downtown every year! The food is great, and so is the music. We're actually planning on going on Sunday to see a local woman perform. She does great acoustic "folkie" tunes with awesome lyrics. I've never seen her before, but am looking forward to it!

Wow, too many posts already for me to catch up with everyone. :o But I'll try to do what I can!

Lori, good luck with the rest of your wallpaper, and have fun at Bastille Days! :) It always sounds like such fun.

Molli, congrats!

Stephanie, congrats to you too, on (a) your anniversary, and (b) your new car!! How exciting. What kind of car is it? I can relate to your excitement -- we just bought a new car too, last week! It's a Subaru Forester, which we've been looking at for quite a while now. The time was right, so we went for it and I'm so excited (now that I've gotten over the shock of buying another car a year earlier than we'd planned to) ;). We're going to pick it up in the next week or two. Yay!!

Sandy et al., have fun at the klatch. :)

Jennifer, enjoy the farmers' market! We're going to our local market tomorrow too. I just love May through October when my town has its market, and there are so many other markets/vendors around too. :)

Lisa, have fun in California.

Whew. I'm looking at a really busy day at work again today, so I'll duck out now. Catch you all later today!

I hope just like you! I'll go see if it's listed on their website, because honestly I have no idea what to expect. All I know is that at 5pm, I'll be walking across downtown to meet DH=.

Ok guys I have to laugh at all the comments about nieces and nephews. This is by no means I'm so great and because I have soooo many I'm so much better....yadda yadda yadda. I just find it funny that not everyone has been an Aunt forever and to so many. I guess that is one of the benefits  ;) of coming from a big family. I've been an Aunt for 30 years and have 13 nieces/nephews and 8 greats! I don't spoil any of them! I'd have to be a millionaire!

Ok I'll be back in a few and get caught up with the posts I just skimmed over.

Ok here is the link but it doesn't tell much either. http://www.rockhall.com/museum/calendar.asp it looks like most of the info is re. a Harley they are raffeling off later this summer. Right now I'm wishing we had a motorcycle, because parking is going to be h-e-double hockey sticks!;) But that's John's problem since I'm already downtown!:D

Stephanie congrats on your first year! It really does go fast. I swear every year goes faster and faster...before you know it it will be New Years again!

jj Glad to hear you were invited back! That's good news!

Lisa where is Jay in Oh today? Your vacation sounds great. I'm mighty jealous! So do you like your CSA? I'm considering it for next year. I'm secretly (well maybe it's not that big a secret now) hoping our garden fails so I can go with the CSA and do a decorative planting next year. Our garden is a big part of our back yard.

Lori how does the wallpaper look so far?

Hi all. I'm late too; can't possibly catch up with everyone.

It's pouring rain here. Helene, Ellyn, and Loren, it's not raining down there? It's really awful here.

Natasha, we've got a Forester (a 2001 model) and LOVE it. You know that Julie (KValley) recently got one as well?

It's strawberry picking season here. I don't have time to go picking, but may drive out to one of the farms to buy some already picked. They are so much cheaper, and better tasting than the California berries in the stores.

Stephanie, I can't believe it's your anniversary already. I remember just looking at the wedding pictures you posted. Happy anniversary!

We have absolutely no plans. DH's birthday is on Sunday and I don't know what I'm getting him or what we're doing. I think his parents might come up and babysit so we can go out.

If it stops raining, I think DH might paint the basement. We've been having it remodeled (after fixing all the water damage from this spring). It just needs painting and the floor put in, and it will be done. I can't wait to get everything moved back down there. It's a big rec room/office and we've had all the stuff displaced around the house since about March. I'm getting sick of the chaos!

Hi to everyone else I missed!

Susan

Thanks all for the congratulations! :)

The car is a Subaru Outback wagon. We test drove Honda CR-Vs, Toyota RAV4s, Foresters and a VW Passat that comes with AWD (and a ridiculous price tag). We liked the Subaru best- and the dealer has been a joy to work with.

Natasha, we liked the Forester too but that is what my MIL drives and I'm just not ready to have the exact same car as her! :p She and FIL do love it though.

Jennifer, I'm so glad your visit with DBF's family went well!

I forgot to say in my first post- hope the Michigan klatch is great fun! Please take pictures!

Peggy, even if your garden doesn't fail, why not try a CSA next year? You can have the best of both- decorative plantings AND fresh produce weekly! I love our CSA- the college students who run it do a truly excellent job even if they are a bit wacky (in the newsletter they put a "quote of the week"- this week it was "My god do I love pus." Just so long as it's not on my vegetables, thank you very much).

Lori- sorry, I got the giggles when I read that your wallpaper ran out halfway through the job! Sounds like just the sort of math error I'd make! Glad you'll be able to finish this weekend.

Harley Biker BBQ.....I'm jealous girl!!!! Have fun checking out all the cool rides. I love it when we go somewhere and there are a lot of customs. Stock bikes are nice but there's nothing like a custom. You'll have to tell me about it.

I've been an Aunt for 30 years and have 13 nieces/nephews and 8 greats! I don't spoil any of them! I'd have to be a millionaire!

DBF was born an uncle, and is now a great-uncle at the ripe old age of 29! I can think of 9 great-nieces and nephews that I met, but I know there's at least that many more. I think the oldest is around 8-10.
Needless to say, I don't think any kids we have we get any spoiling from that side of the family. That's OK though, they'll get plenty enough from mine. :D

Oh, yeah, Stephanie - CONGRATS on the car! I'm excited for you. :) You'll have to let us know how you like it after you spend the weekend tooling all over the city!!

Oh -- and giggle all you want about the wallpaper. I should've known to order an extra roll. But I guess I was being frugal -- and had (apparently) more faith in my abilities than I ought to have! ;)

It's not PRAXIS - Michigan has their own test (if I remember right, about 13 states use PRAXIS). Thanks for all the good vibes everyone! It's great to know that I'll have people to cheer me on and congratulate me when I pass, and to mourn for me if I don't. ;)

It's berry picking season! Glad to hear so many people take full-advantage of the bounty. I don't think I'm strawberry picking much this year - I still have a lot of jam left from last year (I went crazy last year). I'll do sour cherries later in the month, and blueberries as well this year. No sweet cherries for me I'm afraid. I still have those frozen from last year as well, and found I don't use them as much as I thought I would. :(

I'm back -- so much to catch up on!

Yes, Susan, it is now pouring down here. But it's also deliciously cool -- after the beastly hot temps earlier this week, I'm not complaining.

Happy anniversary Stephanie -- good luck with the new car. DH drives a Suburu Legacy wagon, which just passed 100,000 miles -- we really like it. And we also loved the dealership, both during the sales process, and for future maintenance -- we got ours at Middlesex Foreign Car, on Rt. 27 in Somerset -- is that where you went?

Peggy, I can't believe you want your garden to fail ;) I've lost almost everything in my garden to that darn woodchuck, and I'm pretty annoyed about it. At this point, I just don't have the time or the stamina to try to salvage it -- I think I'll get some tomatoes this year, but that will be all. Guess I'll have to make do with the farmer's market. Enjoy the BBQ.

Lisa Enjoy the vacation! Have you ever been to Disney before?

Bethany, good luck on your exam!

Hi to everyone else!!!!!!

Peggy -
First of all, shame on you!! You can have a garden and eat your CSA TOO!! Do some ornamental plantings IN BETWEEN those veggies :)

With so much bounty, you won't be able to HELP being healthy and feeling great :) :D :p

The wallpaper looks pretty good so far. Since it's such a dark color, I'm not all that happy with how the seams turned out (you can SEE them in some places). But my husband thinks I'm crazy for worrying about it, so I'm trying not to be hyper critical. I LOVE the pattern, and it goes really well in the room, so I can't complain!!

Good morning everyone! :)

Wow, I am late this morning. But, I already got in an hour at the gym this morning, got some stuff done around the house, and am knee deep into a desk reorganization at work.

I got a "new" desk last week (don't get too excited - I bought it and a "new" computer table at the university's surplus furniture depot for $25 total  ) so the contents of my desk are piled into boxes in the corner of my office, which is a former storage closet. I started to put things into the desk, only to discover a huge grease slick in the center drawer - now I'm scrubbing away at it with dish soap trying to get it clean. Now I know why this desk was such a bargain! *sigh*

No plans for the weekend, although I think I'll be making a trip to the farmer's market after reading all of your plans! That should give me a jump-start on next week's menus. I did freeze some local strawberries this week, but I think our season is almost done. Blueberries will be another week or two, although I'm dying to try CL's Wild Blueberry Gelato now that I have an ice cream maker :).

Peggy - so does your outing this evening mean that John is thinking about getting a bike? ;) Sounds like a fun time. Yes, I can attest too the fact that there are lots of guitars at the Rock Hall. DH grilled me when I got home about whose guitars I saw, what model they were, etc. (he's a big guitar player - we have probably 15 or so musical instruments living in our basement)

Stephanie - congratulations on the new vehicle, and happy anniversary!

Michigan/Ohio BBers - have a great time at the klatch on Sunday. Post pictures! :D

Susan - It was pouring here earlier this morning, now it's just drizzling. Fine with me - keeps me from having to water my herbs and flowers every day. The sun can shine tomorrow when I'm not working ;).

Helene - oh, I really do feel your pain losing your garden to that darned woodchuck. Last year the deer ate EVERYTHING in our garden - even the hot pepper plants! I don't care to devote the time to deer-proofing our garden (if there is such a thing) so this year I went with just herbs, only to discover that deer love parsley . At least they don't seem to like basil.... yet.

Hi Bethany, Ellyn, Loren, Sue, Sandy, Lori, Jennifer, Karen, Leigh, Natasha, Molli, Lisa and Otis! :D

Sorry Helene I should have been more sensitive about the garden issue!;) I guess I don't really want it to fail, but since it looks like it is going to it is better I set myself up for it! Something is eating my cabbage and stripping all of the marigolds. Surprisingly my herbs are doing pretty good. The tomatoes look safe so far also. But I think the zucchini is going to fail. We haven't decided if something is eating the flowers or if we have a gourmet in the neighborhood!:D

Stephanie I actually wanted to go with the CSA this year, but John won. Of course who does all the weeding? You got it...not him!:)

Karen I'll do my best to beable to tell you what I see, but I know nothing about motorcycles. I doubt DH= will know anything either so we're hoping to run into his cousin and her husband. They both ride, but for the life of us we couldn't remember what last night.

Lori, I just saw your post, we do ornamental between, but something is munching on those as well. The garden is a weird triangle to the edge of our yard and I think it would look nice with a bunch of different ornamental grasses. All different heigths, colors and textures.

Peggy, do you think you might have slugs? They do a pretty good job on marigolds in my yard - slimey little buggers :p. Of course they leave slimey little trails, so you'd certainly notice them.

YES!!! Too funny. I had done all sorts of online research to find out what a fair price on the car would be, and to avoid being manipulated by salespeople. Didn't need any of that at this dealership. :)

Susan, hope you and DH are able to sneak out to celebrate his birthday! How does Alex take to babysitting?

Kathryn I guess it could be, we used to get them pretty bad, but weirdly after we got Otis we haven't seen many. Maybe I should take a better look at the sidewalk for tell tale signs. Really though I suspect it is the million and one bunnies in the neighborhood.

Oh and re. John getting a motorcycle, you know I'd let him get one in a minute if I could get your guarantee in writing that the garage would in fact be cleaned properly and stay that way!:D (so needless to say, no bike inour future!)

Molli, do any of the CSAs near you sell half-shares? Even if they don't advertise them it is worth asking. Sometimes the farm won't sell half-shares, but they will help you hook up with other couples who don't want a full share and then you can work out the details with them. I did this once in Ithaca with a single friend- we split a share and it worked out very well.

Bye Ellyn!

Stephanie - You belong to a CSA now, right? ANd it's just you and your DH? Do you get a full or half-share at this point?

We're considering a CSA next year too -- and I wonder if I'm flattering myself thinking that we'd eat a full share. We are veggie-o-holics... but still :)

We have a full share, which our farm says is good for a family of four. It's just the two of us, though. I had to PROMISE Jason that we would not waste lots of food, and I had to make him promise that he would willingly try all the stuff I made. ;)

So far it has not been a problem to eat most everything. Even the first week when we got 3 heads of lettuce plus a big bag of baby lettuce mix, PLUS lots of other stuff, we managed to consume everything. I learned how to blanch and freeze greens so I did put some surplus kale and chard in the freezer. The only thing wasted so far has been a head of lettuce that accidentally got shoved to the back of the fridge and froze (we have temperature issues with our fridge). Frozen lettuce = not tasty.

For comparison's sake when you "shop" for a CSA- ours claims to average about 10-15 lbs. of produce per week.

I think it's a Suburu thing -- kinda like a cult ;) :D Earlier this year the lease was running out on our Honda CRV, and I was lusting after a Suburu Forester really, really badly, and became very jealous of all the Forester owners around here. I think there was even a thread about Suburus at one point. (We ended up paying off the lease and keeping the Honda, BTW -- financially, it was just a better deal.)

I didn't really look into the CSA's for this year, so I really can't say. I looked a year ago and a share was for 4 people and DH is not much of a produce eater. Hmmm.

Yep. It's definitely a cult.;) I just talked 2 members of my supper club into getting Foresters.

My CSA doesn't officially have 1/2 shares. But they encourage you to split it with someone if you don't think you can use it all. We did waste quite a bit last year, but we're not really veggie-holics and didn't know what to do with a lot of it. I wasn't sure if I was going to sign up this year for that reason, but finally decided to anyway. Then a friend of mine called me that day and said she was interested in splitting with me. It works out really well for us since we both have small families. It also means that I don't have to drive out to the farm every week because we can split that too.

Hello everyone

As usual I am chiming in very late on Page 3.

We don't have too much planned this weekend except for my company's picnic tomorrow afternoon. Today I need to figure out what we're going to take to it. I was sort of thinking about the Southwestern Potato Salad, but I don't know for sure.

I think you're right that Subaru is like a cult. Except I thought all the Subaru drivers were in Colorado. You see them everywhere here. Maybe this is the headquarters for the cult :p

Did anyone ever notice that Subaru spelled backwards is U R A BUS? I remember thinking that was really funny when I was in 6th grade or something.

I just got done IM'ing with my sister who is living in France. I am so jealous! They are going tomorrow to watch the Tour de France go through their area! Doesn't that sound cool?!? She said she wished they had a flag to wave for Lance Armstrong.

I will probably not be Klatching next week because I am leaving to go to Chicago to visit my grandparents. I had toyed with the idea of going this weekend instead of next, but I decided to keep my plans the same.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Whew, we just got home, but not all that time was blueberry picking.

The girls didn't get too blue, but we did get 1 1/2 pounds of blueberries with a few blackberries thrown in. The girls had fun and it wasn't too hot. We then took Daddy to lunch and stopped to pick blackberries from the bushes in the parking lot at his work. Finally we hit target for new workout stuff and a hairdryer and the grocery store for supper club stuff. I'm tired and the girls are vegging in front of the TV.

Helene,
I suggest getting down on your hands and knees to childproof. It helps to see things from their point of view.

Lisa,
We love cherries, but it's too hot for them here.

Everyone who's going to the klatch have fun.

I'm going to go read more of the thread now.

I think I'll do a test run of muffins in the morning. I purchased some blueberries at the store last week that I need to use up. Ginger wants to do something with blackberries & blueberries mixed.

I have a Friday Funny I thought ya'll would enjoy.

Ginger developed a new version of Rock, Paper & Scissors. It's called Rock, Paper, Scissors, and Glue. The Glue is one finger pointing down, and it beat everything.:D DH and I were cracking up in the car. So it's really just Glue because no one would choose anything else if Glue always wins. :D So she decided that Glue doesn't beat anything. :D So, it's back to Rock, Paper & Scissors. :D Then she and DH play. On the second go around she picks Glue. *hehehe*

It's ok Leigh, I'll talk to you. I thought about going berry picking tomorrow, but the lady who runs my strength training class must have been mad at someone yesterday. She changed our routine (which is good) and now I'm having a hard time typing!;) Ok it's not that bad.
