I have a glass cooktop, but it says I can not use cast iron on it. I see recipes that call for a cast iron pan (like the cobbler recipe on this board, etc.) What kind of pan could I use instead? TIA

I've heard the same thing, but I use my cast iron skillet on my glass cooktop without any problems. Maybe I have a big risk of scratching? Not sure why you're not supposed to use it. It seems to heat and perform very well.

I recently got a glass cooktop & have used porcelain coated cast iron, le cruset. I have an older cast iron frypan that I have not used because the bottom of the pan is not flat, has a raised ridge around the bottom edge. my cooktop directions say porcelain coated cast iron is OK. If your pan has a flat bottom it may be the risk of scratching the cooktop surface.

I use our Le Creuset on the smooth cooktop all the time too.
