It's a new week! WooHoo!

Last week I ended up with 4. My goal is 5 for this week, again.

What are your goals this week?

SandyM

Hi Molli! :)

My goal for this week is to keep my eating in check. Birthday dinner Wednesday, anniversary dinner Thursday, Christmas In July party Saturday......Lord, give me strength..... :) ;) No time to work out on any of those days except Saturday, and with a doctor appointment on Tuesday, I really need to be conscious of it all.

I'm spinning tonight and Thursday, and I'll get strength training in whenever I can.

OOPS! I'll go delete my thread. I started one too.

Sneezles,
I don't know what fannylifter is so I don't think this tape has it. Here's a picture of the one I have. http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005T333.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

Well, I did manage to end up 4/4 last week and 8/16 for the month. Right on target. I did my new tape Friday afternoon and we went to the pool after dinner. Then I did yoga on Saturday.

I'm 1/4 so far this week. We went rollerblading for about 20 minutes yesterday afternoon.

How is everyone else doing.

Oh, and ((((Hugs)))) to Molli!!!

Sandy,

Wow, that is a lot going on in one week. Where are you going for the dinners this week? You've got your cardio planned, and knowing you, you'll get your weights in too.

Thanks Leigh.

I have that tape. I got it as a 4-pack from Sam's before Christmas. Haven't tried that one. Did you like it? How did you feel the next day?

Wednesday night is at a new Mexican place in Novi (The Lazy Lizard, or something like that) - to celebrate my SIL's 50th birthday (any thoughts on good eating at a Mexican joint??? ) - and Friday is at Little Italy in Northville.

Thanks for your confidence in me. It helps. :)

Lazy Lizard is pretty good. Has been awhile since I have eaten there. I think Fajitas are safe, so to speak, at Mexican. Most of the time, I will eat one with the tortilla, then I eat the rest of the meat/veggies plain. I also ask for light oil, but I don't think that request is always granted. I don't waste my calories on the rice b/c it usually isn't very good. Bean vary, so I will try them and usually have a few bites. The worst for me is the chips and salsa.

Have heard good things about Little Italy too.

Sandy,
Wow, that is a lot of stuff. Good for you planning your workouts now.

Molli,
I liked the tape. I wasn't very stiff or sore the next day. My abdomen was a tad sore for a couple of days, but I only felt that two or three times. Mainly when I was lying on my back and wanted to sit up. I could just tell I'd used those muscles.

It's a lot more intense that the other tapes and video's I have, and the pace of the workout is faster.

Sounds good. I will have to try that this week.

OK, I am out the door. I have already stayed too long this morning  :p :o :)

Editing: Sandy, I hope that works for you. The last time I was with a group, they brought a couple baskets of chips so there would be plenty for all

Sandy,
I would agree with the fajitas being fairly safe or maybe the Taco Salad with chicken fajita meat (and no sour cream). I'm a pretty bold diner and even bring in my own fat-free tortillas (heated and wrapped in foil). I ask for the veggies (bell pepper, onions, etc) to be served raw with the meat, that way I know they haven't cooked them in oil. I also don't eat the beans or rice but do eat 15 chips with tons of salsa.

This morning I started a new program at a website called Workouts For You. It's geared to the equipment I have and includes a persoanl trainer. The website has tons of exercises but you have to be a member to see all of them but I just needed a change at this point especially since I've not gotten the Fannylifter yet...

Leigh,
That tape sounds great and I will have to look for it. You would use the fannylifter (it's a 14" 2-piece step) on some of their videios but not all. I love using it and have been getting comments on my rear "disapperaing" so I guess it's working!

I made my goal last week!! :)

I think the last time I posted on last week's thread, I was exhausted and dreading having to meet my friend to go run. Well, lucky for me, she had had too much to drink the night before and was feeling pretty rough too. But she didn't want to call me to cancel, and I didn't want to call her to cancel, so we both showed up and gave it our all, although we did end up walking a good part of our 3-mile loop. We were both appreciative though, since neither of us would have worked out had it not been for the other person. We're meeting to run tonight.

So that was Thursday. Friday, I went swimming with DH and a friend. And last night, DH and I went to the gym where I did 30 minutes of cardio and lifted weights.

Yay Eva! Aren't friends great like that. :)

I am such a flake. I forgot to add in to my original post that I did run yesterday, so I am at 1 for the week so far.

Sneezles,

I'll have to look for the fannylifter and a tape that uses it. I inherited the "Jones Family Butt" from my mother and it could use some help.

Hi all! :D

I am determined to do better for the rest of July! I have only 8 workouts so far this month, but if I kick it into gear I can still make 20 workouts for the month!

Over the weekend I didn't get any workouts in, but I didn't expect to with the wedding and all. I did, however, get a short Pilates workout last night with my new Winsor Pilates DVDs! They finally came in the mail. I am going to attempt the Accelerated Sculpting tonight... if I like it, then my plan is to use that and the 20-minute DVD as my strength training for the next 6 weeks, along with cardio. I want to see how different the results I get from Pilates are from weight lifting, and I don't think I will be able to tell unless I do all Pilates for a while.

I have NO EXCUSES this week! I am having my in-laws over for dinner tomorrow night, but I CAN WORKOUT IN THE MORNING!! I know I can!!

I got 3 workouts in last week. My goal was 4. My goal this week will be 4 also. I already have one in. I ran yesterday. And I am planning on running this evening before supper.

I have thought about getting those WIndsor Pilates Tapes but just haven't gotten around to doing it yet. Rebecca, I will be interested to see what you think of the results that you get while using them.

It sounds like everyone is pretty much on track, or else has a plan to get back on track! Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the suggestions on the eating plan, Susan and Molli. I will prevail. I've come too far! :)

I spinned (spun? span? spunneth?) my fool head off again today. What an amazing, incredible workout.

If anyone is interested in my Winsor pilates DVD's, let me know. I played them once. I'm hooked on this gym thing, and I paid for 3 years - I'd best get use out of it. :)

I also have The Firm tapes (I didn't realize there were so many - I'll have to check on which particular ones) - but the Fanny Lifter is already spoken for. Any interest, let me know.

Sorry Susan - I didn't see this last night. I'll check tonight and let you know. They're the ones that come with the original set. (That probably doesn't help much, but I thought I'd throw it in. :p )

Sandy,
I'd be interested in either. What do you have?

I did my new Yoga Conditioning for Weight Loss last night. It has 4 level of workouts full, 1/4 modified, 1/2 modified, and fully modified. I did the 1/2 modified and managed the whole 45 minutes, but there were several poses I just barely held long enough. It was a good workout, and more intense that my other yoda DVDs.

That makes me 2/4 for the week, and it's only Tuesday. :D

Rebecca,
Did you workout this morning?

Shoefling,
Yeah on your run!

no.

Is it ok if I use Hurricane Claudette as an excuse? :o

I will do my 25 minute Pilates DVD at some point today, though. I know I will. I am also going to try to get a little bit of upper body in before I leave today - I might duck into the gym this afternoon.

I did the 55 minute Accelerated Sculpting DVD last night. I can see that this is going to be a good lower body and core workout, although it left me feeling totally different today than I usually do after an intense lower body workout. I don't know how to explain it. It's like I feel all stretched out, but not really that sore. Molli, is that how you feel afterwards?

I really feel like I should commit to it for a few weeks to see if it will give me results, but I can already tell that I will have to supplement with upper body work. YOu don't use your arms or chest at all in these exercises. I also will have to add some cardio (which I expected). I think the jury is still out on this one.

If it's OK for me, it's OK for you. ;)

I had plans to swim tonight, but I think Claudette is nixing that. Last night, I met my friend to run. It was over 100 degrees out, 50% humidity, with full sun and no breeze. I thought I was going to die. I huffed and puffed my way to the end of 3 miles, but it felt miserable. I am trying to decide whether to continue to run with her twice a week, or meet her just once a week and do my other run inside, where it's cool and comfortable and I actually feel like I'm accomplishing something, rather than just trying to crawl my way to the end.

I haven't decided if I will try to do something else instead of swimming today. I didn't bring a gym bag to work, because I was at the vet all morning and didn't even make it into the office until almost noon. I feel too guilty to ditch out this afternoon to workout, and I have a neighborhood association meeting tonight. Today might just be a wash.

Sandy,
Sounds like they may be duplicats of what I'm expecting (any day now... ) if they come with the fanny lifter.

This morning I did a new workout to the Zumba DVD (uses Latin dance steps) was a lot of fun but will be spending a bit of time working on the steps :o ! Then I did a lower body weight training and then planted 80 new plants in my new flower beds.

Sneezles, I saw that Zumba DVD at Target the other day! Did you like it? I couldn't decide if I would think that the instructor was really annoying or not... was it a good workout?

Eva~ I hear you about running in the heat! I didn't run until late afternoon yesterday and it was pretty warm. Not quite 100 degrees and there was a breeze, but I huffed and puffed my way through 4 miles. Took a couple of walk breaks though. I think tonight will be a walk with DH. And I plan to run in the morning. I need to get some strength workouts in. I have been slacking in that area!
And I would definitely say that a hurricane is a good excuse not to get a workout in, especially outdoors!

A little off the subject, but I went to the book store this afternoon and bought The Good Carb Cookbook and The South Beach Diet. I have some serious reading to do! I am hoping that DH might be interested in the South Beach Diet thing. I have been following the other threads on the BB about it and it sounds very interesting.

Susan and Rebecca~ I have seen that Zumba DVD before too. I am always hesitant to buy new workout videos in case I don't like them. Did you like it?

Sandy~ Best of luck with all of your engagements this week! It sounds like you have a good plan in place. I am jealous of your gym membership. The one here in town is expensive and doesn't have the best hours. And there are some gyms in the larger towns about 15 miles away but that is not very convienient for me. At some point DH and I will probably break down and buy a weight bench of some sort. Need to do some research on that.

Have a great day everyone!

Sarah

LOL!!! He's really pretty subdued on the beginner's workout. I had seen the commercial and was a little hesitant but then saw it at Sam's yesterday and thought , why not? I really need something fun to do and learning the Latin dance steps is fun. The beginner's isn't that intense (or maybe it was I kept losing track of the steps) but it was fun.

Well, I'm doing good this week/month. YEAH!

We went to the pool last night to make me 3/4. I'm off tomorrow morning so I'm planning on doing my new Firm tape again. I may even beat my goal this week.

Sandy,
I'll get back to you on the workout tapes.

Sarah & Eva,
Wow, running outside? No thanks. I was dripping after 20 minutes of rollerblading on Sunday and it wasn't that hot.

Well, Rebecca? How was that Pilates workout yesterday? :)

I took yesterday off. I just had too much other stuff going on to make it to the gym. Today is Body Pump class, and DH and I might go to the pool tonight to swim laps. I'm not cooking dinner tonight and he doesn't have class, so we both finally have a free evening together.

Still trying to decide if I'm going to meet my friend to run tomorrow night. Claudette brought through some cooler temperatures and wind, so if it's still like this tomorrow, I will go. But I don't think I can handle another run like Monday.

It was GREAT!! :D Mostly because it HAPPENED! ;) After my in-laws left, I decided I could either watch re-runs on TV, or do Pilates, and I chose pilates! I was rather proud of myself. I also take back what I said about not thinking it was such a great workout. It may not be intense, sweat-inducing cardio, but my butt, abs and legs really feel it! I also did 40 pushups (not all at once! Working towards that, though!) to supplement, since it really doesn't do anything for your upper body.

Sandy, I wish I'd known you had Winsor DVDs you weren't using!

Today I will do 40 minutes of cardio. My plan is 20 and 20 of stairmaster and elliptical, but I will see where the spirit moves me when I get to the gym.

Well, I clung to the silly things for dear life - much like The Firm stuff. I guess having them felt better than NOT having them - even though they weren't being used. If you can figure out THAT philosophy, please explain it to me. ;) :D

How is everyone?

I got in my cardio yesterday, and I have my stuff to workout today if I can find the time. Otherwise, I will do the short Pilates DVD tonight.

Looks like the nicer temps (in the high 80's) brought to us courtesy of Claudette are gone. We'll be in the high 90's through the weekend. Hooray for air conditioning! :)

We've still got nice weather here.

I'm 4/4 now this week!!!!! Right on goal for the month. YEAH! I'm going to try to get in a workout Saturday morning too! Gotta work off ice cream night. It's also TOM and I had the last two smore's ice cream sandwiches last night.

I did my Firm Parts tape this morning. There were about 3 reps of ab work that I didn't do. I actually did much more of the tape than I did the first time. It's hard. I'm a loooooong way from using the ankle weights I purchased.

Back from Baton Rouge and managed to get in both workouts on Wed and Thurs. Took along my resistance tubes for both lower and upper body workouts and my jump rope (thank goodness we were on the gournd floor! :p ).
This morning I did the Firm Cardio Sculpt and feeling a bit more coordinated following the low-impact routine!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

I did make it to Body Pump class on Wednesday, but skipped swimming. It had been raining on and off all day, and I just didn't want to deal with cold, murky water. I ran yesterday, and even though it was about 10 degrees cooler than Monday, it was still blazing hot. Any chance August will be cooler?

I am debating on going to a Body Pump class this evening. It's either that or swimming instead.

RebeccaT

I took yesterday off, and went to Barnes and Noble instead since I was out of reading material. :o

Today will be some cardio and upper body work. Tomorrow I will do my long Pilates DVD, and Sunday I will do the short one.

And no, Eva, August will not be cooler. When I lived in Austin, we had a day in 2000 that we were hotter than Death Valley. And that day was in August.

Sorry. :(
