Is there anyone out there who has been diagnosed with thyroid disease? The only other person I know is my mom (she's dealing with hypothyroidism and has had thyroid cancer). I've experienced hyper-and-hypothyroidism, and it would be great to talk to someone else to get other perspectives.

I have been dealing with thyroid issues for about the last 8-10 years.
I was initially diagnosed with Graves disease (hyperthyroidism). I took tapazole for 2 years. For the next two years I had no symptoms. I then went the other way and am now hypothyroid. I have had my medication (Synthroid) adjusted about 10-12 times in the past 2-3 years. My biggest complaint, which is one the doctors don't want to hear about, is that I have gained weight. How you are dealing with your thyroid issues?

Oh wow, we should definitely talk!! I was diagnosed with Graves disease too in 1995, and after radiation treatment was hypothyroid and went on synthroid. And that's just the beginning...I can definitely empathize with the weight issues...I gained 10 lbs in January this year, literally in 4 weeks while working out 2 hours a day. Talk about frustrating. My synthroid was adjusted 6 times this year alone, and recently I've gone on Armour Thyroid instead. Please email me at michellemseymour@hotmail.com so we can talk further.
