View Full Version : FOR lonetree...
Thought it was time you saw your name in lights!:)
I know you are a Nigella fan. Have you found Maldon Salt anywhere here in the most British city outside Britain?
It's so cool to have another Victorian here....one with such a cool name too!:)

Hi Maureen....Thanks! I think your name is pretty cool as well. I went to the market on Yates and asked there. They said if I brought them information off the net they would see about ordering it in. They have a small British section at the end of the isle down by the yogurt. I have just been using sea salt for now. I made the chocolate pavlova again and the chocolate pots. Was too crazy about the pots, lol. Hope you're having a good summer.
Maureen
Hi maureen!
I tried the Market on Yates as well but didn't ask for it. Maybe if we start a campaign??
Have you tried Planet Organic or Lifestyles? I haven't but I think I will tomorrow (well one of them as they are far apart). Please let me know if you find it and I will too!:)

Maureen I emailed to a company in Washington state to see if they send to anyone in Victoria.
SaltWorks™, Inc.

Sammamish, WA 98075
United States
Will see what they say and will be in town tomorrow so will check Lifestyles out to see if they have Maldon sea salt.

I know I am being snoopy here, but I thought I would butt in... I think Gourmet warehouse here in Vancouver sells it. It would probably be easier and cheaper to order from than an american company. Just my 2 cents. Now I will slip out gracefully.... pretend I was never here.....:o

Thanks Kayaksoup: Could you tell me where Gourmet Warehouse is in Vancouver and if you have an address or telephone number that would be helpful. TIA

Kayaksoup they do have it for $5.95 a box. Wow just looking at their website I think that I could spend hours wandering around the store. Hubby has home depot and I have kitchen stores. LOL. Will check in Victoria and then email to see what shipping would be or wait until I go to Vancouver next. Thanks again.
Maureen :)
I should have thought of the Gourmet Warehouse! I have never been but have heard it's great.
No one at Granville Market has it kayaksoup?
I look forward to hearing what you find out. I may order a box myself.
My sister tells me the Gourmet Warehouse is rather hard to find and not in the best part of town.

Gourmet Warehouse IS difficult to get to, especially6 if you do not drive, like myself:o An area of town that isn't pleasant....
I haven't seen Malden salt in the Market. I know that we sell Fleur de Sel at my store and Sel de Guerand(sp)which are really lovely sea salts. Especially the Fleur de Sel, I use that all the time.
why oh why can I not type properly??? I just had to go back and switch all of my "th' around... ie. taht instead of that :o

I received an email from Mehrab Khan,
Senior Operations Manager,
The Qualifirst Group - Toronto Division and they sent this reply:
Maldon salt has not been recently purchased for retailers in Victoria or Vancouver Island.
The following are a couple of locations where you can purchase Maldon in Vancouver:
1. Meinhardt's Fine Foods, 3002 Granville Street, Vancouver, (604) 732-4405
2. Forster's Fine Cheese, 2104 West 41st Avenue, Vancouver, (604) 261-5813
Kayaksoup this might be easier for you to get to. Will keep looking on the island. Meinhardt's has a lot of foods from different countries.
Maureen
I was just near Meinhardt's last week!!!
It is at Granville and 13th or 14th. Very easy to get to.
Oh well next time I am in Vancouver.
I was just about to go to Lifestyles Market and check it out there...you saved me a trip lonetree!:)

Thanks Maureen, i forgot about Meinhardts... And they are so close:D
Linda-could you let me know if you find the salt there and how much a box is. My mum lives four blocks from meinhardt's so i could get her to buy me a box.
I am now obssessed with getting this stuff!
Oh the thrill of the hunt...(but no killing please!:) )

Just couldn't resist putting in my 2 bits worth about Gourmet Warehouse...if you ever get the chance to go there, GO!!! It is a great store for anyone who is hooked on cooking and the prices are great. I try to make a trip there once a month and am never disappointed. It is EASY TO FIND but the parking is kind of limited; however, you can park on side streets and walk...it isn't really that bad in the daytime.
If you are looking for anything to cook with, you will undoubtedly be able to find it at the Gourmet Warehouse. They also have some great cooking courses there which I have never taken but have heard so much about...and seeing as I'm turning the Big "60" this year, I'm hoping hubby will maybe surprise me with a cooking course....boy, am I dreaming.

Kima I tried Planet Organic and Lifestyles but they don't carry Maldon Sea salt. I have one more option I am going to try tomorrow then will have to see about getting some from either Meinhardt's or Gourmet Warehouse. I only go over to Vancouver about once or twice a year as all my family live here so it gets very expensive if we have to stay in a hotel. Will let you know what I uncover tomorrow.
Maureen
Barb856 The next time I go to Vancouver I will try and visit the Gourmet Warehouse. Thanks Kayaksoup and you for suggesting a visit.

Maureen, I meant to go to Meinhardts yesterday and totally forgot:o I will try to get there tomorrow. If not, then Friday... I have to take my friend to the airport tomorrow, so I i am not sure if I will have the time then. But before the weekend for sure.
