Santa brought me a laptop computer for Christmas and I decided to go out and buy the New Mastercook 6.0 with Cooking Light. Just loaded it!! Looks phenomenal. I currently have Mastercook 4.0 on this computer. Was wondering how I'm going to take my recipes from my Cookbook in 4.0 and transfer them to the Laptop which has 6.0. Of course most of my recipes are Cooking Light so I can just drag and drop in 6.0. I also must learn more about importing and exporting. Most of you folks on the BB seem to be very proficient at it. Would like to get there soon. Thanks, LaurieC

If you copy the recipes or cookbooks you want to move over onto a diskette, I think what I did was open a window for the MC program on your hard drive and a window with the data on your floppy. Basically, you'll click and drag over. When you go back to the program, you'll need to hit F5 to refresh and get it to read the "new" recipes. If that doesn't work, come back and we'll see if we can help.

I move entire recipe books back and forth between my laptop and desktop computers all the time (or update one from the other). I just send myself an e-mail and attach whatever recipe book I want to transfer.

I'm going to bump this back up in the hopes some kind soul will answer this rather than making me start a new thread. I've just diligently read every past thread I could find on the subject, but I'm not 100 per cent clear on something. When you search for a recipe, are you able to just plug in an ingredient and have the program bring up all recipes which use this ingredient?

A friend is looking for a software program for her recipes, and this particular capability is very important to her. I thought MasterCook might be for her, but after reading all the responses, I wasn't clear whether the MasterCook software program itself has this capability or if it's only tied in with the cookpacks. Could someone please enlighten me so I can pass the info on?

Thanks.

Gail - You can definitely search by an ingredient name! You can use any keywords you like and it will search the entire recipe title and text for the word.
