I am screaming jubilations at the top of my lungs!

Finally I will have some help. I have been drowning in the work load and it all came tumbling down around me last night. DH is no help. Yesterday was so bad that in the middle of my tirad at DH I informed him that I am going to hire a maid. He didn't belive me; she's coming on Monday. It will be the best $75 that I have ever spent. (DH isn't thrilled.) Oh well, too bad.;)

My husband gave me a maid one day a month for Christmas last year!(The gift that KEPT ON GIVING!)
I LOVED it! Oh you just wait! I worked with mine and we got SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much accomplished! Just wait and see how good you will feel on Tuesday!

CONGRATULATIONS! It will definately be the best $75.00 that you ever spent!

How I envy you. It is definitely money well spent. We used to have one come in every other week but we had to cut it out because my roomie is disabled, $ tightened up and I really miss it.

If I ever marry, I will definitely have one as I consider them to be marital aids.

Mine comes every two weeks! :) Yes, it is indeed the best $$$ I spend on a regular basis. My husband does not want to work around the house at all, I have young kids and DH wants the house clean all the time. I told him that I couldn't do it without some help. I clean and making a nice dinner and clean up and keep the kids happy and going from soccer to dance to school etc and he said he didn't want any part of the housework. So we hired Lorena, we love her! It's been a marriage improver for us!

I am terribly excited. With 4 little ones I have been getting buried in work and having very little play time with the kids. Plus the baby is cutting teeth and needs to be soothed and comforted all evening. A little ridiculous, but I can't stand the crying. Dh is ok with it, but not happy about the expense. I'm hoping that it will bring peace back to my house.

Congratulations. Believe me when I tell you, it won't be long before your DH is no longer worried about the expense! The fact that everyone will be happier (him included) and your house will be clean will convince him it's money well spent REALLY fast!! :D

Congratulations! That'll totally change your life.

I started getting a cleaning service every other week a few months ago. I simply am not cut out to do housework and I justified the expense by saying there were surely people out there who could use a decent paying job (my service gives the workers benefits and good pay) with flexible hours so I wasn't being purely selfish :D . Now I don't know what I would do without them!

I had a house cleaner for most of the years that I taught. I figured that it was part of the expense of having both members of a couple working. If I had been some poor single mom raising children without suppport, it would not have been possible, but I wasn't. Go for it!

Tamara, keep in mind, tho, that as she is just starting out, you and she have to come to an understanding of what she will do. Sometimes your expectations of what she does and what you THINK she should do are different. Also, she may miss something that she will probably catch the next time. Give it at least a month to get on the same page.

She should also clean your miniblinds and ceiling fans, too, at least every other time she comes, along with the floor boards every month or every other - depending on if your house is dusty. Edges around the baseboards in carpeted rooms needs to be done, too.

Congratulations!

After struggling to keep up with cleaning and vacuuming pet hair (and I have LOTS of pets!) I finally contacted a cleaning service (The Maids - www.maids.com )and arranged for them to come and do a thorough once-over. Wow, what a difference! Hardwood floors, kitchen floors, bathroom floors and fixtures, countertops and such - all spotless!

I've made arrangements for them to come every other week. Money well worth it! :D

P.S.: I'm not affiliated with them!

Goody for you!!! My darling cleaning lady comes every two weeks and makes my house spotless. No more whining and yelling about dirty house! More time for kids and friends and fun. Well worth the cost.

Good for you! It is worth the money and the peace of mind.

Fortunatley, DH will help me with the house work (when I ask). Although, as a trade off he does most of the yard work.

We've got a small loan to pay off then DH says I can get a maid. I can't wait.

I LOVE MY MAID, yes I'm screaming. Best thing is, she has been
coming every two weeks, of course lately I've been wishing I could have her come every week. I don't work or have young children, it's the two of us, I just hate to clean the house. Well, just a few weeks ago, my DH suggested that she come every week!! When she's done my house sparkles, I don't know how she cleans the floor (actually it is a team of three people) but they look better then I ever made them look!!

Congrats and Enjoy. I have had someone come and clean every two weeks for years now. I have switched people several times, for various reasons, I am now trying to find someone new. I have someone coming to give me an estimate when we get home from vacation. My last person did an ok job, but she would constantly not show up and not call for several days, I couldn't tolerate it.

DH complains about the money frequently because I don't work right now, but with two small kids, I have better things to do than clean. I am very chemical sensitive and allergic to many cleaners, so DH had to do most of those chores, and he never does. We made a deal, if he wanted to fire the maid, then for 3 months he had to clean the house on her off weeks (she comes every other week) and then we could get rid of her. He didn't even manage to clean the bathroom. End of discussion, now when he brings it up I tell him first we get rid of the lawn service (which cost the same per month) and he can save money by mowing the lawn (he never gets around to mowing, he travels a lot and is frequently busy on weekends with family stuff).

To me it is a necessity, because I hate to clean and am so sensitive to the cleaning supplies, I can keep it picked up and spot clean in between maid visits, but that is it, I HATE Cleaning!!!

Our cleaning people come tomorrow. Yeahh!!! We've had several cleaners over the years, but now we have a couple. They charge $15 more than I've been paying, but they do a fab job and it's totally worth it. I work full-time, so I don't feel guilty. When I was out of work, or DH wasn't working, than I didn't have cleaning help. It' so nice to come home to a clean house!
