First I am so enjoying these BBs. They really are addictive- just like cooking!! I was wondering (hope you don't mind all my questions but I am a JUNIOR member after all) how long everyone spends in the kitchen on a typical day. I spend about 3 hours in total- that includes cleanup etc. Most of the time I really enjoy it (although clenup can be a drag!!!). There is so much to do in a day! Then I have to fit my run or gym time in. Yikes! Thanks for sharing!

Breakfast is fast and easy. The kids make their breakfast and put their dishes in the dishwasher. I spend about 10 minutes making them lunches. Lunch for me is generally leftovers or very quick. 15 minutes top. We run the dishwasher after lunch or breakfast and the kids empty it when they get home from school. (Yes I know I have my two little slaves http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif) Dinner prep time is usually any where from 30-45 minutes. The kids clear their plates and the rest of the table while I do pots and pans and final cleanup. (Apparently I have not taught them that you can actually move things when wiping down counters http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif) So all in all maybe 2 hours tops. Not too bad thanks to my little helpers.

You mean time spent in the kitchen eating, or cooking? http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif If the former, uh, well, a long time! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/tongue.gif If the latter, about 20 minutes to an hour most days. The hour days are more likely to be Fridays or weekend days. Occasionally, I will cook for longer than that, but not usually unless it s a special occasion or I really have the cooking bug. (I take it that you re not counting time that it takes for something to bake or cook, when you can basically go away and do something else in the meantime.) I should mention that although I m the fanatical cook & baker around here, I do get some help ... I m not holding down the fort alone. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif Often, though, I don t mind doing the cleanup myself while I m waiting for something to cook or bake.

Laura, is there a husband present? If so, why doesn't he help? grrr. If not, okay, too. Just wondering. I'm one of the ones who thinks that it's not just "woman's work" so that's where I'm coming from when I ask that question...

Down girl! Some people share the load in different ways (assuming there's someone there to share with) i.e. one cleans the kitchen, the other does laundry or scrubs mildew out of the shower. Some folks share in each task, others do trade-offs...

Nope just me and the kids for now. I am engaged and when my fiance cooks he is great and much more meticulous about his kitchen then I could ever hope or desire to be. In fact we have talked about when we get married we will have to get used to sharing the kitchen. (I think we can figure it out though http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif) But we don't live together so most nights its me and the kiddos.
