A co-worker originally from the U.K. is having a baby. I know you don't do "baby showers" over. Do you have any cool customs, events, traditions that she might appreciate us doing for her?

I'd go ahead with the baby shower. I'm British and I intend on having one. I think it's a great idea. Women should feel special and I think a shower is just the ticket. Of course, every woman is different and it may not fly with all.

You might take a look at www.babycentre.co.uk (it is the British Baby Center site). It might list some typically British traditions, etc.

My English neighbors came over once DS was born to 'Wet the Baby's Head'. They brought champagne and some gifts for him. I was told that it is an English tradition to toast the arrival of a baby.

Thanks for the great ideas!

We were planning to have a shower for her. She had never been to one before and after she went she wondered why they don't do it in England. I thought it would be fun to incorporate any of their traditions into the celebration.
