I feel soooo out of touch!
I used to watch "The Food Hunter" occassionally on Food Network, and I enjoyed the program and its informative-yet-kind-of-wacky host. But it was only this evening that I learned that Pete Luckett, the host, is famous in Canada and has an amazing food emporium in St. John. I had no idea! Wow, that shop looks amazing - and he seems like a pretty remarkable person. And just when I'd reconciled myself to the fact that we aren't going to the Maritimes this year afterall....
Anyhow, check out his shop/Web site if this is news to you, too:

Yeah, Pete's Frootique is pretty popular in New Brunswick, but I was under the impression that it was his brother running it (Pete had moved to Halifax)? Anyway, I remember going in to the market in Saint John (never abbreviate the Saint, it's too easy to get confused with St. John's, Nfld, then) and selling gooseberries from my mom's garden to him. It seemed so uncool when I was 17 :o . I had no idea Pete was on the Food Network - something else to miss....

Oh, I checked out the website, and his food emporium is in Halifax - I was confused because there are several Pete's Frootiques in New Brunswick (they sell just produce, though). That place looks incredible - I'd love to go!

If you click on "About the Frootique" you can take a virtual tour.
Sure looks like a fun place!
