I have googled till my eyes crossed, :o and I know there are quite a few BB'ers from No. Cal. so I hoping one of you might know where I can purchase It's It ice cream sandwiches online.

DH is having major back surgery in August and I would love to surprise him with a long lost treat.

TIA

Gee, I don't even know who owns that company now. I'll take note of it when I'm at the store this afternoon if you don't get your answer first. What a thoughtful surprise! :)

Just the title of your post made me drool.

I haven't lived in No. Ca in over 10 years, but I still remember these. My favorite was the mint ice cream with those yummy oatmeal cookies. Once I tried to replicate them, but came no where close to being as good as the original. I hope you are able to find some.

Good Luck!

You'll never guess what I'm eating this very moment! :D

I found one mangled box of vanilla on the top shelf behind some popsicles in Raley's today. Now if I could get the mint!

I've been craving It's Its this whole summer! I remember passing their factory on the freeway. I could usually find them in most stores, my favorite was capuccino ice cream w/ the oatmeal cookie, all covered in chocolate! I will have to get some when I go back home! Please let us know if you find out if they ship!

EUREKA!!

Now if I could get the mint!

So near and yet so far!
The store I shop at most often sells the mint ones individually (tho not the vanilla) for 99cents - about the best buck you can spend in this town, IMHO. Last time I bought one (amazingly, a couple of months before this thread appeared  ) the guy -kid- at the checkout just looked sort of wistfully at the Its-It and said, "One of those always cheers me up." Sweet.

Tina, I've never seen cappuccino. I wonder if they still make them or if they were a flash in the pan?

Aha! Now I'm getting an idea of what an "It's It" is! I've seen it on my Periodic Table of Desserts poster for years now and couldn't quite figure it out!

I've never had an It's It, but they sound very much like what I think was (is?) called a Harbor Bar, popular on the NH seacoast. I ate my fair share of those years ago while being a chambermaid on the Isles of Shoals.... Bliss...

I am not above driving to SF to buy one! :p

I think It's It should have a website with a "store locator" section!

scassidy, It's Its are ice cream sandwiches made with oatmeal cookies covered in dark chocolate. So yummy.

I believe Dreyers/Edys distributes them... at least they did ten years ago when my ex worked there.

They do? Why can't they distribute them here, then, darn it all!

Krista I just found this on the internet. Would this be close enough for you to drive to?

AzAnne...maybe you could phone and see if they would express deliver.

Joe's Ice Cream
5351 Geary Blvd. at 18th Avenue
(415) 751-1950
Like the Street Francis Fountain, Joe's is an old-fashioned sandwich shop and ice cream parlor. The decor is somewhat utilitarian, but the sandwiches are good and the ice cream is excellent. There are over 40 flavors plus sundaes, floats, malts, and milkshakes. They also make a great It's It, an ice cream sandwich made with two oatmeal cookies and coated in chocolate.

Lonetree- Thanks for the info. San Francico is a little far to drive just for ice cream, but I do go there occasionally. I'll add Joe's to my list of places to visit.

I guess it's a sea-side thing! Here's the scoop -so to speak- on the It's-It!

It was definitely several years ago, back when I went to summer camp at Stanford and I think they even popped up in a local market in San Leandro ... It would definitely rank as the best ice cream sandwich I have ever had. when I go home in September I will investigate :-)

I found a website that said Berkeley Farms made Its-Its, but it was old (2001) so I don't know...no store locator, but I know they don't have them here in IL. No one here has ever heard of them. Darn it, now I'm craving them. Should have gotten one when I was visiting last weekend!!

My friend in San Diego was the one who reminded me of It's Its a few days ago, so I decided to look for them for her. I called It's It Ice Cream Company and they told me who the Southern California distributor is. I'm waiting for Ross Swiss Dairies to let me know where they are sold in my friend's zip code. Those of you craving It's Its in other parts of the country might have some luck tracking them down the same way. My friend says she has seen them in Hawaii so they must do some distributing out of state.

I'm going to ask the Raley's manager if he can order the mint and cappuccino ones for me. The cappuccino sounds too good to pass up.

OMG you guys are bringing back Northern California memories for me. I grew up in Redding, CA and remember munching on the mint flavored It's Its. YUM! Too bad I'm on a diet right now.:(
If anyone finds them in Colorado don't tell me!
