Hi all,
This is my first post! I live in a very small town (in a fairly rural area). I like to cook but can't find a lot of the specialty ingredients that I would like. (I had to ask my mom to mail me some cardamom once!) Do you have any favorite on-line (or catalog) sources for specialty foods? It would have to be a place that can send through U.S. mail or UPS (I'm hoping and praying that one of the online grocers sets up somewhere near me, but I doubt there is a market for that where I live). Thanks a lot! I'd love to hear your experiences with ordering food online or through catalogs.

Since we've touched on the subject a couple of times, here are a couple of links to threads with some hints: www.cookinglight.com/bbs/Forum1/HTML/001293.html (http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/Forum1/HTML/001293.html) www.cookinglight.com/bbs/Forum1/HTML/000271.html (http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/Forum1/HTML/000271.html)

In addition, our local gourmet store, Bristol Farms, also offers on-line shopping (but the shipping costs, to me, look prohibitive). In case you'd still like to have a peek, the web address is www.bristolfarms.com (http://www.bristolfarms.com) .

And, as if this isn't already enough, our own LauraB has gone through the trouble of constructing a wonderful, informative home page with even more links. Check it out at: www.geocities.com/laurahboyd/ (http://www.geocities.com/laurahboyd/) .

Good luck!

Hey, Gail - Thanks for mentioning my site! You have to scroll down a while on the page to find the links she was mentioning. I have a list of online food sources in my "favorites" folder of internet explorer. I listed them in a previous thread: http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/Forum1/HTML/002763.html. There is some duplication between the links on my page and the ones in that list, but many are different. The sites on my page are mostly recipes and kitchen supplies as opposed to food. Good luck - I love shopping on line an getting things that I would have otherwise had to drive everywhere to find!

Knitchick - This may be overkill http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif, but have you tried Yahoo? I've found some great food sources from their pages. Start here: http://dir.yahoo.com/Business_and_Economy/Shopping_and_Services/Food_and_Drink/
