I'm thinking of placing an order with ethnicgrocer.com to get some chipotle peppers, but I'd like to know what other things I just HAVE to order. What are your favorite products from them? I noticed that it's free shipping on your first order and also on orders over $30.
Thanks! http://www.ethnicgrocer.com/eg/hm/eg.html

I'll have to think about this...
Off the top of my head, I'd say, don't pass up the dried mushrooms. They always have good prices on porcinis and chantrelles!
They also have a nice selection of Indian crisps and breads!

pomegranate molasses. It's not molasses really, it's thick, concentrated pomegranate juice. My mouth is watering.

Oh my Grace - what do you use it for? Sounds yummy.......
I posted this once before so sorry for the repeat. But it's a great appetizer and uses pomegranate molasses. It's not exactly low-fat, but not too bad either.
MUHAMMARA
a 7-ounce jar roasted red peppers, drained
2/3 cup fine fresh bread crumbs
1/3 cup walnuts, toasted lightly and chopped fine
2 to 4 garlic cloves, minced and mashed to a paste with 1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, or to taste
2 teaspoons pomegranate molasses*
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon dried hot red pepper flakes
1/4 cup extra-virgin olive oil
toasted pita triangles as an accompaniment
*available at Middle Eastern markets
In a food processor blend together the peppers, the bread crumbs, the walnuts, the garlic, the lemon juice, the pomegranate molasses, the cumin, the red pepper flakes, and salt to taste until the mixture is smooth and with the motor running add the oil gradually. Transfer the muhammara to a bowl and serve it at room temperature with the pita triangles.
Makes about 1 3/4 cups.
Enjoy!

Sandy,
The recipe above (Muhammara) is EXACTLY what I use it for!! LSB: THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for giving me (us) that recipe. It's fantastic, and I just cut down significantly on the olive oil to make it a little lower in fat. (And I use more than two tsp. of the pomegranate molasses!! :P)
I think there are some other recipes for it (CL), I will try to find them and post...

Silly question, but what does that recipe taste like? What is the consistency? I just can't seem to get a "picture" in my head.

hhcowgirl, it's a thick dip. Think of a sweet/tangy roasted red pepper dip, into which you dip pita triangles. Think mediterranean.....it's wonderful, but I love sweet/tart/zippy things (and really it's not THAT sweet/tart, I mean, there's only a tablespoon or so of that pomegranate molasses in the whole recipe, but it's enough to be perfect!). Anyhow, it's wonderful. I need to make some of that today, I think!!
Oh, and Linda, make sure you get some RICE WINE from ethnicgrocer.com!!!
