Hi, All! Just joined this community today! I am also just beginning the Richard Simmons program. I have always adored him. I'm at my heaviest weight and am just so sick of being fat. What is worse is when I think I don't look that bad and then see a picture or reflection of myself. It upsets me very much that I have done this to myself!

I met Richard yesterday at our local mall. I am floating on Cloud 9! It's funny that I just decided on Thursday to give his program a try, ordered it, then got to meet him yesterday. He was as wonderful in person as he is on television. :)

I was just wondering if any of you were on his program. I"d love to hear from you!

Have a great weekend!

Aileen, I have fond memories of doing the Simmons' "Sweatin' to the Oldies" videos with my DD...they were soo much fun to do and gave a good workout to both of us. I think Richard has done a lot of good for a lot of people--he's genuine and empathetic, and has a real love for his work...not to mention hyper-enthusiasm!

Welcome--and Good luck. Shar

(Think I'll go dig out those old videos right now... :) )

I think he is a wonderful inspiration . . . I know a lot of people don't like his "schtick" but I've never seen him or heard him that he didn't make me feel better about myself and my body. His diet isn't particularly different or special, just common sense that he has marketed and remarketed very well, but he is definitely special and fills a very specific hole in the usual market for diets. I have bad knees and am never going to be able to do heavy-duty exercises, so his approach let me feel successful and keep moving.

Hello! Count me in, too! I do like Richard Simmons, no matter what anyone says. I find him to be entertaining, too, so the workouts and the plans aren't all "serious" all the time. I used to do Sweatin to the Oldies with my sister and my mom. We all really enjoyed it and it made us feel good about ourselves. I like that Richard Simmons was there- he knows what it's like to be the "fat kid" and all the psychological stuff that goes along with it. It bothers me to do a workout video or go on a program with someone who has always been a perfect 10 all their lives. Good luck with the program!!
