Just to let you all know that tomorrow's the big day again. I'm going back into the hospital at 6:00 a.m. They'll start my surgery at 7:30. I will probably stay in the hospital for 4 days. Not sure how I'll be feeling then, so I may or may not be on the board for awhile. But as always, I want to thank everyone for their good wishes and concern, and ask for your prayers that I finally get fixed for good!

I wasn't able to eat anything today, so I'm pretty darned hungry right now! But part of my problem last time was there was no bowel prep, and I suffered miserably, so if not eating for a day means I won't have to go through hell again, then it's a worthwhile tradeoff.

Anyhow, I'll be back on the board in a week or so and report in how I'm doing. Thanks again to everyone!!!

I'm back! Knowing that so many people I never even met are out there thinking of me and praying for me brings tears to my eyes. I've said it over and over and over, but you all are just wonderful. Thank you.

The surgery went off as planned, and it seems like the doctor did a fine repair job. My stomach (where the incision is) isn't NEARLY as swollen and bloated as last time, and this morning, I'm up and around and actually able to do something (I'm making french toast!).

I got my tubes removed on Thursday morning - it was a moment I'd been waiting for (and dreading at the same time) for months. I had a couple of anxiety attacks and needed some Xanax to get me through, but I think I'm past that now.

I'm now left with a regular catheter until Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., and a stent inside my left ureter that will stay in for another 4 weeks or so. He said he'd put me out (outpatient) to take that out. Then I'm COMPLETELY DONE!

It was the worst case scenario though. Rather than being able to just sew the tube back together, there was too much of it that was dead that needed to be cut out. So they had to cut into my bladder, hike it up and attach it to the soas muscle, then take the top part of the ureter (that comes down from the kidney) and re-implant it in a new spot into my bladder. The surgery took 5 hours as opposed to the 2-1/2 they thought it would take. But the Doc says I won't suffer any effects after this, and I'll be as normal as ever once I'm healed, and I'll be able to do any physical activity I want.

I'm just so glad it's over - it hasn't really even sunk in yet. But I'm off the pain meds (they make me ill, and the pain isn't so bad anymore), and I can move around somewhat (the catheter is what's slowing me down - I can't really go out or anything), and my appetite is coming back (hence here I am! :D ).

So anyway, thank you all again for thinking of me, praying for me and sending me all your good thoughts and wishes!!

Just goes to show that none of us know what can happen in life and to our bodies.
It does sound like the worst is behind you. After what you have been through the procedures ahead should be easy. It is true that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
