ok everybody, i just used an EPT test and i have a faint line...does anyone know if that means positive??? according to the instructions, there would be no line if i wasn't pregnant.

any words of wisdom???

There was just a thread on this about a week ago...the majority said any line was a line worth believing :)

I'd wait! Nothing is better than the look on their face when they hear the news! Congratulations!

I would wait get a baby boties or toy and some hints for him and then "surprise" him with the news and by all means enjoy the look in his face...:)

YAY GRETA!!! Congrats! :)

No input on when to tell your husband, since I've never been in that situation myself, but I am looking forward to hearing about his reaction when you do tell him!

Congrats again!

Congratulations!!! you have just begun a most wonderful, emotional journey!

I'd wait to tell DH in person. I was by myself when I first found out so I know how you feel. I was just dying to tell someone!! I did the same thing you did- logged onto the computer. I found a good friend of mine on line and she was actually the first to know! I told DH that night. It's worth waiting just for the opportunity to see and hear the shock!

And, by the way, what's wrong with taking four tests?? :D :D :D I did the same thing!

A line is a line is a line.

I'd wait until DH gets home and tell him in person. We took 2 home tests, then I had to have a blood test at the dr. office. DH was with me for both home tests, but I got the "official" word from the dr. over the phone. I did call DH to tell him we were official, and it was only 2 hours or so until we got home, but I really wanted to see him in person when I told him. He wanted to know as soon as I knew, so I called.

Congratulations!!! :)

because i trust all of your advice more than i trust my impaired judgement right now, i will wait until DH gets home from work!

i have to say that for some time now i didn't know if i'd be able to get pregnant. i went without my period for 6 years, and was afraid that messed me up! i have been getting my period like clockwork for 2.5 years now, so there was some hope.

although dh and i only got married in february, we are both very ready for kids. i turn 33 in september, and have never felt more ready to be a mom. i think it helps that i have a great partner in DH. i see him with kids, and know that he'll be a great dad! we're going to see his family in 2.5 weeks in kashmir, and they will be SOOOOO excited.

it's funny, about 5 people asked us this week when we're going to get started--a couple of people even came right out and asked if i am pregnant yet!!!

won't they all be surprised!

thanks again for giving me this outlet. i think i may have exploded otherwise.

Congrats Greta! Looking forward to you joining the pregnancy thread on this board! :)

(As a side note, I told my DH via the phone both times. The first time he was gone for a 10 day business trip and I knew there was no way I could keep it to myself until he got back to tell him in person! The second time I was just too shellshocked to even wait a couple hours for him to get home from work!)

So, is he excited too! :D I sure hope the immunizations aren't a problem. It would be a shame if you can't travel.

How did you tell him?
What did the dr. say?
Inquiring minds want to know and share the rest of the great news!!

when i picked him up from work (which wasn't until 6pm!!! i was going batty), i gave him a card when he first got in the car. he was a bit puzzled by the card at first, but when he opened it and saw a little baby on the front he suspected--and then he opened it and saw he's going to be a dad. he got choked up, and then just started laughing. i was crying by this point. i was glad i waited to tell him.

i have my first ob/gyn appointment on friday....i made a bunch of calls yesterday trying to get answers to my immunization question but i didn't get very far. i left a message w/ tulane's infectious disease dept but they never called back. my aunt works for an infectious disease group on long island, so i'll call her today to see if she can get some info (i didn't want to call yesterday, b/c i didn't want her to know i am pregnant).

i'll have to get hepatitis A and a typhoid vaccination, i think. i did a bit of research on the internet, and it looks like the hep A vaccination can be given to pregnant women, but the typhoid can't...we'll see...my DH doesn't seem overly concerned, though he is a bit. (he's a doctor, and is definitely not an alarmist).

thanks again for all of your support and congratulations! it helped me through a VERY long day.

oh, and i told my immediate family--i'm so close to them, how could i not?!?!? ;) my parents are estatic, and my brother cried (awwwww), my other brother is in sweden, so i'll try to give him a ring today.

:D greta

Congratulations!

When I (finally) got pregnant with my first ds I was working for the company that made ClearBlue Easy. So I was a few days late and I couldn't wait any longer and went downstairs to the company store, bought the test, and took it in the bathroom! I love that bathroom. But like you I couldn't tell dh until that night. Three kids later the details of telling him are fuzzy. But the joy is not.

When I first found out I was pregnant, I had also started a college course. The college was asking me for proof of immunization for MMR. I knew I had gotten it as a child, but my mom couldn't find my records (she still has them all somewhere!). I told them I was pregnant so I couldn't be immunized if I wanted to! I got a note from my doctor and they accepted that. Don't know if it'd work the same way for leaving the country. Good luck!

That's so great that your family and your DH are excited. Isn't it fun to tell people?!
