View Full Version : Looking For Ladies Supper Club in Parker, CO Area

Hi -
The supper club posts I could find for this area were all at least a year old, so I thought I'd post a fresh one.
I'm moving to Parker in early September and would love to join or start a ladies supper club in the area. A couples club wouldn't work for me -- my husband would much rather watch the kids while I do my supper club thing! Before living overseas for a couple of years, I started a ladies club in Virginia that was great fun and is still going strong at the three year mark.
Is there an existing ladies club that would like a new member? If not, is anyone interested in starting a new one with me?
Thanks!
Beth
Hi Beth
A supper club in Parker is something I would be interested in - This is my first post, and I don't really know much about supper clubs - but I love to cook and I love to meet new people! When will you be arriving in Parker?

Amy,
I'll be arriving on August 26th. We should be settled into our house by September 12th (our stuff arriving from overseas will take longer than we expected!). Perhaps you could ask around your friends and I could ask around among my new neighbors and we could come up with a group? My old Virginia group seemed to work best with 5-6 members. We got the ball rolling in the beginning by meeting at a restaurant to meet each other and work out how the club would work. We settled on the host picking the theme and making the main course. We'd volunteer via email who was bringing what (appetizer, salad, beverage, dessert, etc.) on pretty much a first call, first get basis. Sound good? We could get our new group together and hash out the details.
Looking forward to hearing from you -- Beth
PS -- I currently have my email address hidden on the BB and I see you do too. If you want to go ahead with the group, we'll work out a way exchange email addresses. Might be good to keep our thread going for a little while, though, to generate additional interest from Parker-area BBers.

Hi again Amy --
One thing I forgot to include in my last reply... If we can't get a group together via this board and approach people we already know (or in my case, people I just met :) ) -- I'd still prefer the club to be Cooking Light-oriented (or at least healthy cooking oriented, even if not all members are CL subscribers).
Thanks!

Hello Ladies-
I live in Castle Rock and would love to join. I don't have any cooking club experience either, but I'm definetly intersted.

Excellent!
That's three of us -- two or three more and we're set!
Shall we tentatively plan a get-together at a restaurant in late September?
Beth :)

Late September sounds great. Perhaps we could meet one of those last two weekends of the month. I would prefer a Sunday. How about you guys?

Sundays are good for me. Either one of the Sundays you mentioned works for me, although the 21st might be slightly better. My son's birthday is the 27th; we don't have a party planned yet but the 28th might end up being convenient for it.

Hi, my name is Jill and I've always thought a supper club would be super fun! Until today, while reading CL at work, I had no clue where to join one. I'm a north suburban girl, now living in Greenwood Village and don't know many people locally. A ladies' club sounds perfect because my boyfriend works second shift so weeknights can sometimes be boring. Please post initial meeting. Thanks!

Wonderful! I lived in Westminster for about 3 years before moving down to Castle Rock last summer...my boyfriend worked nights up while we lived up there, so I understand!
As for our first meeting, I guess we were thinking of Sunday, September 21. Maybe a time in the evening would give everybody time to do their weekend things first, how about around 6? Does this work for everybody? Does anybody have a favorite or new restauarant they would like to go to?
P.S. I will be on vacation next week, and most likely not on the computer, but will check the board when I return.
Hope you all have a good labor day!

Would you like to meet a little earlier -- like 5? Would that work for everyone? I suggest it because my Virginia group settled on Sunday nights as our regular meetings, and we'd meet at 5, which allowed us to not go too late on a "school night." (Plus, I'm an early dinner eater -- by 6:30, I can have a full-blown hunger headache/migraine if I haven't planned ahead and snacked.)
For location, I'll leave it to the locals to pick a part of town which is as centrally located to all of us as possible (I'm still way map-dependent just to find my way around). We've got Greenwood Village, Parker, and Castle Rock so far.... Amy, where are you located?
Looking forward to the 21st!
Beth
Hi all -
Sorry, I don't get on the computer as often as I like (with a 20 month old in tow) but there seems to be some good interest in Parker! Sunday the 21st sounds good to me - My monthly schedules tend to be a little wacky as my husband is a pilot and can often be gone on Sundays - However, I would like to be a part of the club and partake whenever I can. Beth, where will you be living in Parker? I live in Parker in the Canterberry Crossing subdivision. We have lived here for two years, yet I am still looking for friends that don't necessarily revolve around playdates and children!!
Looking forward to meeting you all.

Cool -- I'm in Parker Vista; not far from you at all. We're moving in this Friday, although our (non-furniture) stuff shipped from overseas won't arrive until at least a week after that. So, we'll be partially settling in -- but it will be better than living in a hotel! I know what you mean about offspring-based friendships -- it's nice when you can find friends with things other than having children in common.
Oh, and regarding your husband sometimes being gone Sundays... We can all discuss it on the 21st, but I for one don't have a problem with us not having a set night of the week to meet. We can decide each month which night works best for everyone for the next supper. It's great when the whole group can make it for each supper.

Hi Beth,
Yes! I would be interested in a Ladies Supper Club. I live in Aurora and just moved back here from California. I am taking on-line university courses so my time will be limited but I would love to be part of a Supper Club.
Let me know the next step and what I can do to help, k?

Hi there! Just signed on (registered) and didn't realize that there was follow-up activity on this post...
Also, I noticed everyone uses their first name so I may be adjusting mine...
Sunday, September 21 @ 5 PM sounds good to me! I am close to Iliff and 225 so I can hop on and go anywhere. Just let me know where.
Let me see, there is Beth, Amy, Lesley, Jill and myself. Any more?
See you then!

Hi, Jill here. Lots of new posts since the last time I checked. Very cool! Sun. the 21st @5 sounds great. There's this place called Earl's in the Park Meadows Mall parking lot that I like. They have excellent mango margaritas and appetizers, good friendly service too. I've never actually ordered an entree but there's plenty to choose from. El Parral on Arapahoe Road by I-25 has good mexican and is more economical than Earl's. Who has more ideas? I'm generally not picky as long as we don't do Mimi's Cafe(too bland). I'm looking forward to meeting everyone! Talk to you soon.:p

Hi Everyone --
I was getting email notifications when people posted to this thread, but for some reason I didn't get any for the past few days. I was glad when I checked and saw another person was interested!
Either Earl's (I think I've seen it when near Park Meadows Mall -- but at a glance, I thought it was called Carl's!) or El Parral sounds fine to me. Perhaps we can splurge on Earl's? (a good mango margarita sounds nice!) However the vote goes is fine with me, though. Looking forward to it!
Beth
PS -- Jill, thanks for the heads up on Mimi's Cafe. My husband and I both go for non-bland food -- this is one restaurant we won't need to try.

It's great to come back from vacation and see that our group has grown! 5 pm at Earl's sounds good to me. I've been there for dinner once before with a few girlfriends and it was pretty good (the cosmopolitans aren't half bad either)
Talk to you later!

Hi everyone! This is my official confirmation for Sun. 9/21, 5pm at Earl's. Good decision ladies since this was my first choice! If it's a nice evening, maybe we can dine out on the patio. Unless there's snow on the ground by then. See ya soon.

I had planned on just showing up and asking any lone women who walked in "are you here for the supper club?!" But reserving a table is probably a good idea. I'll call and get a table under the name Beth. See you all there!

Cool. We're up to seven now, and I think we should probably stop at this number. (Sorry to anyone else who sees the thread now and wants to join in!) With busy schedules, seven should ensure that at least five members (but hopefully all seven) can make it to each supper. See you all Sunday!

Hi all
We have had a death in the family and will be in Seattle this weekend. Needless to say, I won't make the dinner - I will keep watching the posts and hopefully make the next meeting - have fun - sounds like a good time!
