Did you figure this out yet? Do you have any problems choosing an avatar from the selection given? Or, are you just having problems with a particular file you have? If you are having problems with a particular file, perhaps the file is too large pixel wise and/or file size wise.

Maybe you can attach the image to a post here in this thread so we can look at it.
