I think she is controversial. Some info she writes is great; other stuff is a little off-the wall, but it's always interesting to see other points of view.
I have the first book and have used it for reference several times.
I read the second book from the library and for me, it was a little too new-agey...some good facts and some a bit strange. Hey, who knows, the strange stuff may be the way to go...

I have Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom. It was a gift from my mother. I have never read the book from cover to cover but have found it to be an excellent reference when I have referred to it for a specific question.

Kim, I thought you had read that book (Women's Bodies...)? Wasn't there a thread about it last year?
I got it out of the library, and wasn't too impressed. She's from Maine, so is somewhat of a local celebrity around here. But I thought it was a little too off the wall. Parts of it were interesting, but then she had a whole bit about how miscarriage was caused by your mental state, or something like that, which really turned me off.

No need to apologize! I forget things all the time. :) Plus, there are always new people on the board who might have fresh opinions.

I read it while pregnant and found it extremely helpful in standing up for what I wanted out of the hospital/birth experience. I was able to fine tune my labor ideas and discuss with my doctor the possibilities of delivering without episiotomies, which I was able to do. For that alone, reading the book was worth it. And for once, there's someone talking about the birthing process that isn't trying to scare you to death!!! It's hard work, but it won't kill you!
