Does anyone know what equivalent a 9 oz. container of let's say Linguini is to dry?? I thought I once read that it equals a pound of dry pasta. Any help appreciated! LaurieC

The Buitoni (sp?) pasta in the refrigerated section says that 9 ozs equals one pound of dried. I'm not sure why that is. :confused:

Here's a tid bit from the Whole Foods website about pasta:
Because of the high moisture content of fresh pasta, it will change very little in volume when cooked. So if you pay $2.50 for 8 ounces of fresh pasta, you're paying roughly $5.00/lb at the table. The best-quality, most expensive imported dried pasta costs less per pound (dried) and will almost double in volume when cooked! This puts the cost of the best dried pasta at less than half the cost of fresh at the table.
