Wish me luck! I'm doing the big BBQ weekend, complete with brisket (OK, I'm a bit of an idiot for never having done it before and having my virgin run for company  ), beer can chicken (DYNN rub), corn on the cob, 2 types of potato salad (the Tex Mex one Stefania posted with redskins, and State Fair potato salad, posted by Linda in MO), coleslaw (posted by I'm not sure who but it was someone here) and cornbread (Jiffy, of course!) Oh, and Ranch Beans (do we see a BB trend here?) I must be nuts. I have all my spices blended and in jars (labelled), the BBQ mop I'll make tonight, along with the cole slaw and potato salad dressings (so I don't have to haul my entire spice/condiment collection up north). Come Sunday, I'll need a cool beverage!

Reviews will follow Tuesday.

Your meal sounds wonderful! Wish you well on the endeavor of your first brisket! You should do alright, it's a fairly easy meat to cook, just remember to wrap in foil after a couple of hours so it doesn't dry out! And remember, a cold beer makes everything taste good! :p

Good luck Bethany! You conquered fried Mars bars; you can surely do brisket. :D

If you're not too stressed to answer a few questions, how many people are you serving? And what's for dessert? (I'm trying to decide what to make for my cookout this weekend...)

24 people for dinner (with about 5 more possible). Dessert is being brought by other people, but I told them pies - summery ones, like peach, cherry, blueberry, and I think there will be a pecan one snuck in!

And Strongbow also makes most things taste better, right, Bethany? :p

You'll do great. :D I have no doubts.

On behalf of Ohio, though, I'll do my best to guarantee that we won't leave you without power for the weekend. :D

LOL!!! Thanks Jessica! I needed that! (We have a gallon of margarita mix, at the ready! "blended? no thanks, just on the rocks - it's faster!")

Gosh. I just went to the thread that Jessica posted.

1) I'm bummed that I missed the happy hour (but I was probably in the middle of happy hour on vacation :D )

2) I never knew there were so many Strongbow fans here!

3) Bethany - do tell me about those glasses!

4) I'm now feeling really, really lucky that I can get Strongbow locally (albeit very expensily).

:)

Sandy - I didn't know you were a Strongbow fan too! So cool!

My glasses came last week. I was soooo geeked. http://ebay2.ipixmedia.com/abc/M28/_EBAY_acf847aa45981fec99fa1078fef6a071/i-1.JPG The lighters that I was supposed to get weren't sent, but they are on their way.
