Hi Kim. :) I'd love to hear what you think about it. I have never read it, but looked it up on the internet and it sounds very interesting.

I was especially interested in the fact that, according the the review on Amazon, Dr. Willet points out that our current food pyramid "comes from the Department of Agriculture, the agency responsible for promoting American agriculture, not from the agencies established to monitor and protect our health." And I guess he goes on to argue that this is why dairy, wheat and corn products figure in so prominently. I NEVER though of that before! Very interesting!

Our library did not have the cookbook you are trying out (Good Carb Cookbook), so I'll have to see if they can get it for me, but I'll see if they have this book.

Gee, I feel like I'm stalking you, book-wise anyway! :D :)

Alysha :)

Kim--If you get the chance, I'd love to hear what you think of the book. From what I've read, I really respect Dr. Willet's ideas on nutrition. BTW, do you happen to know when this book was published?

Editing because I'm an idiot with poor grammar.

Pico, I loved the book. It is a great read and a great reference. I agree with most everything Willett has to say on the topic of nutrition. Check out these two threads...

I read the book this spring and also loved it. My inspiration for reading it was an article in Eating Well. It hasn't completely changed the way I eat, but I am thinking a lot more about the choice I make, and am definitely making an effort to cut done on refined starches. Gina
