We are a couple of 30-yr old non-native Minnesotans (from the Pacific NW) looking for others to share dinner with in or near Minneapolis. Is there anyone out there interested in joining us?

Hi,
I was reading the cooking light magazine today and thought a supper club sounded like fun. I live right outside of Minneapolis and would be interested in joining your club. I am in my early 30s and have lived in MN my whole life. I am looking to expand my horizons and friends by joining a supper club. Please let me know if you do continue with the club. Lynn

Hi
I am interested in joining a supper club. I love to cook and try new foods and recipes. I am in my mid thirties and we moved here in 1999. Please let me know if you are going to get a club going.

We are in our late 20s. I moved here two years ago. We are looking to meet new people with some of the same interests.:)

I'm definitely interested in joining a supper club! I'm another non-native, and I have a bunch of friends who would also be interested.

I'm am also interested in the supper club. I'm always cooking for my friends anyway, so it would be nice to take a break and have someone cook something for me!

I want to join too! I am new to the area, love good food, will be 50:eek: in November and I live in downtown Minneapolis so I can get around the area easily.
Does anyone want to get together to try to plan a club?

I agree, I think we have enough people to start a club. Any night except Thursday works for me, and probably not weekends either. I live in a very small apt in uptown, so I would prefer to not have it here. If we all want to be in the kitchen at the same time this apt is not the place to be.
How about the first week in Sept?

If anyone is interested, please email me with ideas on starting a club and we can go from there. Hope to hear from you soon!:)

Hi everyone,
It's nice to see such a great response to my initial posting. I would be happy to host a group at my house. I live in a medium-sized house in SW Mpls. The cooking accomodations would not be grand, but I'm sure we could work it out. I would prefer weekends, just because there's more time to prepare, but will go along with the group consensus.
Thanks,
Rachel

If anyone has suggestions on where to meet for our first meeting, it would be greatly appreciated. I have been emailing a couple of people and we think that we should meet at a restaurant. It doesn't have to be for a full meal, just a chance to talk and get to know each other a little bit and discuss how we are going to start this up. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks:p

Hi there everyone. I am currently a member of a St. Paul based supper club that started almost two years ago. I've been reading your posts and they sound so familiar. We too did a number of posts back and forth and it didn't seem like we were getting anywhere. Someone finally picked a date and said, "Let's meet at Cafe Latte. Bring an issue of CL to hold up so we can find each other. Whoever shows up that night is part of the group."
Two years later we still are going strong. We now have eight members (started with 10) who are pretty regular.
Good luck.

Hello,
How would next Sunday work for everyone? If we want to meet at a restaurant I have some suggestions otherwise the coffee shop would be fine with me too.
Here are the restaurants I think would be good:
Campiello
1320 West Lake Street - Minneapolis
612.825.2222
$8 - $12
Gustino's
30 South 7th Street #6
Minneapolis, Minnesota 55402-1601
ph: 612.349.4075
$12 - $20
Sawatdee
8501 Lyndale Avenue South - Minneapolis
ph: 612.888.7177
or Sawatdee Uptown
2650 Hennepin S
ph: 612.377.4418
Thai ? Affordable
$8 - $12
Chiang Mai Thai
3001 Hennepin Ave (Calhoun Square)
ph: 612.827.106
Let me know what the final decision is and I can make reservations or if the coffe shop is the decision, pick one and let us know.
We're getting closer :)

Hi,
Sunday (the 14th?) would be great! Lunch? Dinner? Appetizers? Any of the suggested restaurants would be fine, but I vote for dinner (say 6:30pm?) at Sawatdee in either location. (My quick search for Gustino's suggested that it is closed.) Thanks for the suggestions and taking a stab at getting us organized!

It's awfully quiet out there!? Should I make a reservation for Sunday, 9/14, at 6:30 at the Sawatdee in Uptown?
I used to be a cheerleader, so don't get me started:eek:
Hope to hear from you soon :p

Sunday Night works well for me. What should we look for at the resturant?

Oops. I have to cancel Sunday night--I will be going out of town. Some friends are having a baby shower for my daughter in Dallas and air fair is fairly cheap this weekend so I am going to go there. If you do get together Sunday, keep in mind that I want to join. I am flexible for dates and times for a dinner club.

Just to get the ball rolling, I agree that as many of us as can should meet at the Uptown Sawatdee on Sunday night at 6:30. As the other posting suggested, we can carry a copy of Cooking Light to the meeting so as to recognize one another. Maybe the first person to arrive could also mention it to the host/ess that we are looking for folks carrying the magazine and that we might be a fairly large group. Sound good?

I am a new CL subscriber and my september issue arrived VERY LATE so I just read the article about supper clubs and love the idea! Can I join your get together on the 14th at Sawatdee? It looks like you have been planning this for awhile amongst yourselves, but it looks like you are the only mpls club and we are also in our late twenties and living in south mpls, so hopefully it will work out! If its okay, I look forward to meeting you on sunday.

I am also interested in a Minneapolis club and am very excited to investigate joining the group. I am assuming that all interested parties can just show up so I'll see you on Sunday!

I am still interested in being part of the club. I was not able to attend tonight. I received some not so good news about a family member earlier today. Please let me know how the get together went tonight. Hope everyone had fun!

I did not find out about Sunday's meeting until too late ... how did it go? Can I or others still join the group? Thanks much.

Our first meeting went well. Seven of us met at Sawatdee, but we agreed that we would remain open to new members. Our next meeting will be on Sunday, Oct. 19. Please email me if you would like to be involved.

I am also a 30 something non native Minnesotan and would love to join a supper club. I was out of town for the first meeting, but I am still interested. Will the Oct 19th meeting also be at Sawatee? Thanks! I'm really looking forward to it.

I came to this page with the intention of forming a supper club in the Minneapolis area, but I see that one is in the process of forming. Are you still accepting new members? If so, I would be interested in finding out more about this group. It sounds fun.
PS I would not be able to make an Oct. 19th meeting however, as I will be in DC on business.
