Hi! I am new to the area and my hubby and I are still trying to meet people. I love to cook and love cooking light magazine (I am also a food network junkie :))
Is any one in this area interested in trying a supper club?

Hello,
My husband and I are interested in participating in a supper club. We live in Dupont, just down the road from Tacoma. How do we connect up? Michelle and Tim

We've started a supper club and are having our second gathering of 4 members on Sunday, Sept. 7

We have not established a regular date or time for gathering. For now our plan has been the hostess determines main dish or theme and we are asked to bring a side, dessert, or salad.

Right now we are ladies only. One is in Fircrest, one in North Tacoma, one in Federal Way, and one outside of Enumclaw. The other members are car-pooling to the Enumclaw home. Our members may be receptive to changing to couples, I don't know.

Our first dinner was after work on a week night and this our second is an afternoon and being held at the Enumclaw home.

If either of you are interested in our club, we would welcome you attending our second supper and would gladly add members.

Let me know, Linda~

Hi Linda and Michelle,
Your supper club sound nice, ladies only is fine by me. I am not working right now so I have no time constraints as far as when or where. How about you Michelle?
I posted for the Tacoma area, but actually live in Lakewood.

I can be emailed at since_yesterday@comcast.net for any details that you do not want to post on an open board.

Thaks for the invite to join your club :D

My husband and I are both interested in joining together (or forming) a supper club. We live in North Tacoma, are in our mid 30's both teach and love to cook together and entertain. We've tried to doing this through the website before but it never took off. So hoping to find people who really want to participate.We subscribe and use cooking light recipes regularly. (Actually we were in the July '03 issue.)

The lovely couple can be found on page 150; Reader Recipes.
Yum! Looks like a great recipe "Grilled Halibut and Fresh Mango Salso" Will have to give it a try, mango is one of my favorite fruits.
So, are you two originally from Oregon?
Good luck on getting a supper club going to all of you! Have fun!!

Robin, Michelle & Tim, Tammy & Greg ~

We are all excited to see your interest in forming a supper club! We are all open to couples and/or singles. We are so new that there is lots of room and flexibility as to how our group would work.

Option #1: If you can make this Sunday in the afternoon with a carpool meeting in Federal Way at 11:30ish we welcome you to join us either as a single or a couple. If you decide this is not too short of notice then here is a quick food assignment [it's the old alphabetical thing]:

Michelle = dessert
Robin = main
Tammy = salad

The amount to serve 4 to 6 as everyone in our group is doing likewise.

The hostess, Nancy has to know by Friday night how many to expect in order to put together seating.

Our group brings their own beverage.

Option #2: Perhaps you are uncomfortable starting off like this without meeting us and especially on such short notice. Therefore, we could meet after work in the evening at a centrally located public place where ideas could be exchanged, etc. My thoughts are that the Tacoma Mall area is pretty central to all our locations, given Nancy's place of work, Michelle & Tim in DuPont, and Jenni in Federal Way. If you prefer this, than let's start checking out some dates of availability.

We can continue to post to this thread as my personal email is notified anytime you respond or go to our personal email addresses where we can cc everyone. My name is Linda and my personal email is:

titlepending@netscape.net

I look forward to hearing from all of you, as do Kris, Jenni, and Nancy

Dear Linda, Kris, Jenni, and Nancy;

Thanks for the invite! Unfortunately I'm going to have to pick option #2 due to the short notice (We already have plans for this sunday :() but would definitely love to be involved in the next supper!
I have not heard from Michelle and Tim yet, but have talked to Tammy through email. I let her know to check the board in case her and Greg are interested in participating this Sunday. I am open to meeting anytime so pick a date convenient for everyone else and I'll be there!

If I don't talk to anyone before then, have a great time Sunday!

We had the 2nd of our supper club "events" today and what great food and terrific time we had! All of us welcome the couples concept.

The four of us had never met before, we took this on by faith when we met at the Spar to setup our first dinner and we want to offer you the same opportunity through option #2!

Here are two dates that we can all get together under casual circumstances and hammer out the possibilities for a larger and partnered supper club. Wednesday, Sept. 10 or Wednesday Sept. 17 - both at 6:00, both at the Swiss in downtown Tacoma. The date will be determined by your responses to either this thread or by personal email to:

titlepending@netscape.net

And the majority rules. When you respond, indicate whether one or two people as I am going to get a reserved table. Address etc. available if unfamiliar with the Swiss, it's in the UW complex off Pacific near Union Station, etc.

Our meal today was AWESOME and Cooking Light . . . well, dessert was grandma's recipe for a strawberry-peach pie =*8-0

If you're on this we'll hear from you by Tuesday so I can make reservations!

Hi All,

I just received help from the folks at Cooking Light so that I can now reply to the threads. I do hope to meet some or all of our potential new members at the Swiss on one of our two proposed dates. We have a great time when we get together. Hope to see you all soon!
