I would be interested in joining the supper club. My husband, daugher and I are moving to the Tampa area in December, and will be looking for all the chances we can get to meet new people! Please let me know if the club gets together and meets.
Thanks,
Jennifer

I'm definitely interested. I live in Lutz but not opposed to traveling. I've expressed interest in other supper club threads so I'm hoping one of them takes off. My husband would also like to be included so I would like for partners to be included if possible. I'm also willing to host first if no one else wants to.

Hi there,
My husband and I are moving to Palm Harbor next month. We'd love to join or start a couples supper club. There are a couple of people in the St. Pete / So Tampa area also looking to join a club. (Check out their posts). Perhaps we can pick a date and a restaurant and all meet to get started.

I think we should get moving on this....only problem is that we are still in Sanibel, won't be moving til end of November. We do travel up to Tampa a couple of times a month, and could work in a meeting during those times, but I'm not going to take the lead due to being so far away!
Thanks,
Jennifer

I would be happy to take the lead; have talked with another 2 couples that are interested. Unfortunately I just got laid off, so I'm reluctant to start anything at the moment. Perhaps we can start in November?

I would love to be included. I live in the Lutz but I am willing to travel. I moved to Lutz about 3 months ago from Charlotte, N.C. and would love the opportunity to meet and cook with all of you. My email address is vbunch@tampabay.rr.com.

November sounds good to me too. My email address at work is Alison.Tietz@verizon.com. That's usually the best way to get hold of me. Shall we set a date?

Just wanted to let all know that I am still interested in doing this. Once we get moved up to Tampa, I will be pursuing this again. I also thought I would put my thoughts for a group down now as well:
I am fine with a group including individuals and couples. My husband may join occasionally, but will probably be babysitting most of the time for our daughter, since we won't have a pool of babysitters built up yet.
We will have the choice to cook together or bring the finished dishes, pot luck style. I think that doing the cooking together would be great, since that's how you learn to cook new dishes, but know that time doesn't always allow, so I don't mind a mixture of that either.
Looking forward to getting a group together!

Ok - let's do it! Still no job yet, but why miss a good opportunity at networking and enjoying good food at the same time?!
I will volunteer to coordinate our first meeting. Would those that are interested include their email address and name in their post? I have two other couples also interested; not sure how we're going to work it with a large group, but I'm sure we'll manage.
So...for now, let me know your thoughts on when in November you could possibly meet for our first get-together. The second and third weekends are good for me; from Friday thru Sunday are ok.
Can't wait to hear from you all!

Ok - Looks like Saturday, November 8th will be our first meeting! I've heard from 3 people so far. Anyone else that's interested can email me and I'll add you to the list.
Some questions for you:
- Do you all want to do couples or girls only?
- From what issue shall we work - the October one?
Send me your thoughts. If you all are ok with the October issue, then either email me with what you'll be bringing. I'll give you directions at that time.
Looking forward to meeting you on the 8th and sampling some new CL dishes!
Lynne

Welcome! If you didn't find any posts for your area (you can go back several weeks to look, if you like), you can start a new thread with your city name in the subject (Denver Supper Club?) and see if you can get any takers.
I think the main board also has tips on how to organize and you can read some post from other clubs' menus.
We've not met yet, but we're planning our first meeting. I'll post the results afterwards! Good Luck to you!

Noticed your thread on starting a Tampa Supper Club. Have you had your first dinner yet?
We formed a group about a year ago and have met probably 5 times already. Unfortunately, two couples from our group are dropping out for various reasons. Now we are currently 4 couples and would welcome 1-2 more couples. If this group has not organized yet and you would like to join our group, just let us know.

We're actually having our first meeting this Saturday! We've got 5 couples so far, so that might make your group too large .... but it's good to know your group is out there! Maybe we can plan something together sometime.
How is your club structured? We decided our first meeting would be a planning session; perhaps you can give us some tips?

You are correct - merging the two groups would probably make it too big and difficult to manage. Maybe some point, we'll try.
Our group has done different things from the host picking the menu & everyone making a dish or two to picking a theme and everyone making something they want. We have done a Fall Harvest dinner, a Carribean dinner, and gourmet pizza dinner, etc. Try different things and see what works for your group.
We try to meet every 2-3 months rotating houses. So far the group has worked very well. The 2 couples who dropped out were because of job relocation & child care issues - nothing to do with our yummy dinners.
Hope you guys have had as much fun as we have. Good Luck.

Sounds great! I'm really looking forward to it. It's possible some from our group may prefer to join your already-established one...who knows! I've been afraid that my particular location may be a little far for some. At any rate - thanks for the tips and best of luck to you as well!

We've had to postpone our first "planning" meeting for our Tampa area supper club. Those interested in attending let me know if you have any dates in December that will work for you, or if you'd rather start up in January.
Looking forward to getting this going and meeting you all!

I am planning on moving into the Tampa area in January,so unfortunately, I will not be able to stay with the supper club I am currently in. I will miss them very much and would love to get involved in the starting of another. I'm not sure if you have already started a group or have set any guidelines as of yet, but i would be interested if you have room for one more. I am 27 and single if that helps.

Hi kimmiewon!
We'd love to have you join us. We've not had a first meeting yet, so you're just in time to help us get ours going. And since you've got experience with a previous club, you can guide us in making ours a success!
January may be our best bet for the first meeting since the holidays are going to make December crazy. Keep checking back here and we'll see what the others want to do. I'm open to try a date in December if people would like to get started, but either way is fine.
Looking forward to meeting you in January! Good luck with your move.

Ooppps...first time posting. I just read through the messages and see that people are hoping to meet in January. That sounds good to me. My e-mail address is kpinedamassari@yahoo.com. If it would make it easier for people to come together at a local restaurant or coffee house just to plan, that may work. Let me know what you think.

January is great for me around the middle of the month. That gives us a chance to take a breath from the holidays and not interfere with Superbowl (which is a big deal around my house). Looking forward to it.

Ok, let's then plan for a January session to start our club! I suggest (but feel free to comment!) we have this one as our planning session.
I'm available after mid-month. Why don't you email me at
golden1225@verizon.netand I'll let you all know what date is best for everyone.
Looking forward to seeing you all!

January 19th sounds good to me, too. My DH leaves for Basic Training (Army Reserve) on the 14th, so it will be nice to have some company! I'll still host the first one, if you all don't mind traveling out my way.
Shall we cook from the December issue of CL?

I don't have a problem with traveling for the first meeting. Receipes from the Dec. issue sounds great maybe we should do hors d'oeuvres, how does that sound for the first meeting. Please send me a email with the address information. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone.

Hors d'oeuvres sound perfect for our first meeting. Everyone else ok with it? I'm sure we'll all be stuffed from the holiday feasting.

Hi :) I'm in the New Tampa area and would love to participate in the Supper Club's. I never knew these existed until I read Cooking Light Magazine today and it sounds like a lot of fun! If there is room for an extra person please let me know. Thanks very much.

Time to start this thing! I've had some replies to my email address with an interest in Saturday, January 17 as well as those in favor of Monday, January 19. Either would be fine for me.
Since this first meeting is a planning session, why don't we do hors d'oeuvres? Perhaps "heavy" ones, so that we in essence have a meal. Is that ok with everyone? And perhaps for this one, we pick whatever we want to bring, instead of being strictly tied to a specific CL issue?
Let me know your thoughts on the dates. Can't wait to see you all!
