Hi,
I'm a young, aspiring pastry chef who loves to cook and bake. I just moved to the area from San Diego and I would love to meet people who enjoy trying new recipes as much as I do. I love spicy, ethnic dishes and I'm willing to try anything once. I would like to start or join a supper club asap. Please contact me so we can get cooking!

I would be very interested in starting up a supper club in Providence. I moved to RI last year and live in Cranston (Edgewood section) and would love to meet others who enjoy cooking and baking. Let me know what I could do to help start up the club.

Hey there,

I'm 29 years old and I've lived in Providence for a couple of years. I would love to find other people who enjoy cooking as much as I do, and trying new recipes. I'm also a big fan of pretty much any kind of ethnic food.

I am so excited that there are so many interested people. When can everybody meet? I'm not working right now so I'm pretty flexible.

Hi there,
This is cool to be able to get so many responses so quickly! Evenings are better for me. I don't get home from work until about 7pm.

Hi everyone,

This is exciting! -should we plan to meet first at a restaurant in Providence? I am in town from Sept 19th and into October and can plan to meet for drinks, starters or dinner at a convenient location for all. Any ideas for a meeting place and date?

I'm so excited about a supper club being formed in Providence. I can't wait to meet all of you. I work until 5:30 so anytime after that would be fine with me.

Depending on if you guys end up including husbands/significant others--I would be interested as well. (My husband likes to come to the dinners and mingle with other guys and eat).

We've had one going off and on for a couple years now, but we are now in an "off arc" right now.

Let me know!

We thought we could meet at Cheesecake Factory at Providence Place, right Christina? Sounds like evenings are best for every one - about 7 pm? I'd be happy to coordinate this, since I have my own biz and set my own hours. You can e-mail me at primethyme@charter.net with some dates. I am open to spouses or not. We'll see what the majority wants. I know my DH is an awesome cook!

Hi everyone,
I am still figuring out how to use this bulletin board, so forgive me. I've emailed some of you individually and I end up leaving some people out. What do you all think about meeting at Jesse's in Federal Hill, Tuesday, September 23, at 7:00 p.m. I have a significant other, but I don't really care if we keep it all girls or not.

I am open to either the Cheescake Factory or Jesse's on Federal Hill on the 23rd at 7:00. Significant Others are all okay with me so count me okay on that.....
Hope everyone else responds soon to help in the decision.

Hi. I was delighted to learn about supper clubs in the latest issue. I live in Cranston, RI and am very interested in joining one in this area. Sounds like one is in the works. How may I become involved? -Lynn

September 23 about 7pm or slightly after works well for me. I'm not exactly sure where Jesse's on Federal Hill is, but that or the Cheesecake Factory sounds good. I don't have a significant other at the moment, but I don't mind if they are included. Let me know which restaurant everyone decides on.

It sounds like Sept. 23rd at 7 p.m is the first meeting of this group. I would like to join in. I also don't know where Jesse's is on Federal Hill, but know the Cheesecake Factory. Please let me know where the group decides to meet.

I'm pretty sure the 23rd works for me too---not sure where Jesse's is---but tell me what it's near and I can find it--or Cheesecake Factory works also.

I definitely can't get rid of my spouse and two kids on the nights I would host a dinner, (though I can restrict my kids to other parts of the house) so one suggestion could be to include spouses sometimes and sometimes not? Anyway, just an idea.

I plan on bringing my spouse - the whole idea for us was to meet new couples, but that's just me. I know of lots of mixed groups.

I have just moved to Providence and am also interested in joining a supper club. I am 31 and single but open to whatever. It seems like there are so many people interested that there may be potential for a few groups. I can make the 23rd and assume someone will make a decision about the place and post on the board. Looking forward to it...

Hi Everyone -- I've been reading about the supper clubs and would love to join -- am I too late? I love to cook and experiment with new dishes. PLus, it would be a great way to meet new people! Let me know!!

Duh!? I'm assuming that the 23rd meet is for just us girls---meaning I wasn't planning on bringing my spouse to THAT.....is that how everyone else is doing it?

I think anyone who is interested should attend the meeting on the 23rd and then if it turns out we have a lot of people, we could form different groups based on individual interests. Should we just plan to meet at the Cheesecake Factory? That might be the easiest.

I vote for the Cheescake Factory as well. I agree- there may be too many people for one club, so let's see what happens on the 23rd. If you are interested in meeting on the 23rd at Cheesecake Factory, post a reply so we can determine how many people will attend.

Hi everyone,
It sounds like people would prefer to meet at the Cheesecake Factory. The reason I thought we could meet at Jesse's was that we could all get our own drinks and snacks and mingle. If we go to a restaurant, like the Cheesecake Factory, we may have to make reservations since there are so many people and we will probably get one bill. I just think the logistics will be more complicated. Also, I think it's a good idea for people who plan to include their spouses or friends to bring them to the first meeting. If there are lots of people, we can branch off into our own groups.

I've been involved in a supper club here in RI for the past two years---though we've been real off again, on again. Just a suggestion, but no matter how big we are at first---I wouldn't break into groups right away because you will be amazed at the number of people that will drop off almost immediately.

If things get too complicated, I'm game to host a meeting at my house in Warwick---I promise no bills at all...LOL. Just a thought.

It doesn't really matter to me where we meet. I agree that a restaurant could get complicated with a lot of people. Could someone please just name a spot and time, so that everyone will know where to go.Thanks!

I feel that this is becoming too complicated. Is anyone able to make a decision??? If not, I'm not too interested. This keeps going round and round.

Since there is no one in charge, this is going to happen. I thought the Cheesecake Factory was fine, since everyone knew where it was--if we decide to do that, why don't we buy a few group-wide appetizers and then everyone pays for their own drinks? We can each go to the bar, or pay cash for each round. As long as everyone shows up with change instead of just $20 bills it should work out.

If not, again, I am most happy to serve drinks at my house--I'm pretty stocked bar wise---and serve some chips, dip and a veggie platter.

Instead of getting irritated, let's vote! Assuming all will go along with the majority decision.

Hi Kristi,

It's so kind of you to offer your home. I think it's a great idea. We should BYOB and I would also be happy to put together a dip-type dish. I think it would be only considerate if we RSVP to you directly with our e-mail, so you can give us directions to your home. That way we can tell you if we are coming alone or with a significant other. I'd be happy to help in any way I can. Once again, THANK YOU! :D

Sorry guys,
I posted my last reply before carefully reading the previous one. If you all want to meet at Kristi's, then I'll be there, too. Kristi, thank you so much for the generosity.

I've gotten a couple of positive replies so I am planning on having it at my house on the 23rd at 7PM. Please email me at KristiChef@aol.com for directions, also just let me know how many are coming.

I'm planning on beer, some wine, soda, a few choices of mixed drinks---I can even do frozen margaritas at request.....and a veggie platter. If people want to bring a favorite wine--that's fine too. Otherwise, if you feel like bringing an appetizer--please do, if not don't worry about it.

If I clean my house for you people....you better come <grin>

Just wanted to bump this up. In case you haven't checked in a while. The meeting tonight is at my house! Please email me at KristiChef@aol.com for directions. I will check my email for the last time at about 5:30, so I can give last minute directions to anyone that needs them.

Even if you haven't posted on here before and see this for the first time today---you are welcome to come!

I'm sorry I won't be able to join everyone at Kristi's later. I'm trying to shake this cold and was hoping it would go away in time. I am still very interested in participating in the club and I look forward to hearing how tonight's meeting went.

Have fun!

I think I have everyone's email address and will follow up with an email. But we had a successful meeting at my house last night and our first dinner is November 1st at 6PM at Marcy's house!

If you do NOT get an email from me on this, or if you are just seeing this and want to join---please let me know and I will give you the details. Marcy will be informing us as to what the main dish/theme will be and then we will take it from there!

We are off and running........
