Trying to conceive, or thinking about it?
I am going off the Pill in January and will be hoping (*fingers crossed*) for a late fall or winter baby in 2004.
What changes are you making to get ready? I am already cutting back on caffeine and have cut out Nutrasweet completely (mainly because I figured out I have an allergy to it!). I am also trying to walk 3x per week.

As someone who was recently trying (and it worked very well!) one of the main things I did was start taking folic acid, I think 400 mg per day but ask your doctor. I also cut back on the caffeine (and once the morning sickness kicked in I couldn't stand coffee at all so that became very easy). There is a book that someone on these boards recommended that I found useful called Before Your Pregnancy: A 90 Day Guide for Couples on How to Prepare for a Healthy Conception by Amy Ogle & Lisa Mazzullo. It goes into all the food, exercise, medicine stuff you should know, and there is even a chapter for dads-to-be. Good luck and have fun!

Your doctor will probably prescribe you Pre-natal vitamins (which with insurance are alot cheaper to get than store multi-vitamins) if you ask, that way you'll know you're getting all the good stuff! Beware they are horse pills!
Dh and I have decided to start trying again so I've started to log my temp to see the ovulation patterns etc...A great website with lots of preconception info and good boards is www.babycenter.com.
Good Luck :)

I recommend the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by Toni Weschler. At first it seems like a pain to chart your cycles, but you learn so much. We don't plan to be TTC for a while but that book has taught me so much about how my body works.

A second vote for this book, it's amazing. I've been doing this for a few months now and I still can't believe that my body is actually doing the things this book talks about. Prenatal vitamins with that extra folic acid are a good thing too.
Good luck, and maybe someday we'll both be on the PG thread...

A third vote for the book! I just ordered it a few weeks ago and it is incredible, the info is very informative and really does pinpoint what your body does and when.
