This was disappointing. I didn't even finish it, or the ziti that I'd spooned the gravy over. The only major change I made was to use turkey instead of pork, since I don't eat pork, but all my other recipes that I've converted from pork to turkey have come out great. This one just didn't seem to work. None of the the flavors really married, and it had a kind of sharp, overseasoned taste.

Aw... :( I'd really had high hopes for this one. I'd be interested in hearing about other people's results with it.

Not so many cheers tonight,
Phoebe

this was one of the few recipes I had marked to try in this not-so-stellar-for-me issue. oh well. I still may try it, though.

Well, I can't speak for myself(I didn't have it), but my parents made this the other night. My DM said it was great! She said they had it over gemelli pasta, and had fresh steamed broccoli on the side. Even my DD had seconds, atleast that is what she told me:) They did have it with the pork, and she said she would make it again. I also know that they had the Chicken with Fennel, Tomato, and Tarragon Vinegar last night and said it was "to die for". I don't live with them, so we relay messages to one another about the recipes we try:)

DH and I actually thought it was pretty good! I did the cooking method a little differently which may have helped with flavor.

I sauteed an onion with the sage, thyme and italian spices first. Then salted and peppered the pork and browned it in with the onion. Then I whisked together the broth and the paste, added the peppers and artichokes and threw the broth mix in - covered and let it simmer for a bit. I don't really understand mixing the herbs with the broth as I dont see how that would release flavor in that short of a cooking time.

I didn't think it was a wow, but definitely tasty. I also think the sauce is better suited over rice (we used brown basmati) than pasta.

Thumbs up from us too. I basically did the recipe exactly as written except increased the spices as we always do. DH is a huge fan of artichokes and I am a huge fan of red bell pepper, so I figured I couldn't loose. It was very easy and yummy. We also served it over brown rice, which worked very well soaking up the broth.

This recipe was a hit in our house tonight. Very easy to make, which is a plus. DD kept wandering through the kitchen saying "That smells so good! When are we eating?!". I would definately make it again.

Well, maybe this just happens to be one of those recipes that doesn't convert easily from pork to turkey. Or maybe I should have sauteed the herbs with the onion first, the way JeAnne did. I dunno. But I'm glad other folks have enjoyed the dish, even though I still don't think I'll try it again. Bon appetit, everyone -- unless we're not allowed to say "BA" on a CL board?:p

Cheers,
Phoebe
