I'll be moving to San Diego from the Seattle area in October and would love to hook up with a new club that would have room!
I think the northeastern-ish area of SD is sorta where I'll be if that makes any matter.
Anyone out there?
:)

Thanks Charleen for your reply! Let's look together and if we don't find one then we'll just gather some other lonely foodies and start our own supper club ;)
Ah! I see and just posted on the ddavis thread that is looking for a supper club too. Well, that makes three of us in this boat and that's a good start. Hopefully I'll be living in a compatible area.
We'll keep in touch.
I've only heard wonderful things about SD - looking forward to it!

Hi Everyone,

I've been in San Diego a little over a year. I just read about the Supper Groups in this month's Cooking Light. I'd really like to join a SD cooking club. I live up north in Rancho Bernardo.

Looking forward to starting a new group and eating some good food!

Emily:)

Hi Emily,

Looks like there is a lot of interest being generated. I can't wait to get started with our own supper club. Although, R.B. is a little north of here I do not mind traveling; what about you?

Hi All,

I just finished reading this month's issue and I would love to join a Supper Club in the San Diego area. I live in the Rancho Bernardo area and I don't mind travelling anywhere in the county. Any takers?

We're all takers!! We all want to be part of a Supper Club. Looks like we have the beginning of one here! horray!
Obviously I don't know distances and/or my way around (yet) but I'm up to traveling and am used to it. My SC here is spread out in our *county*. I think it's really fun to cook together and then critique what we've just created so I don't mind going a distance for that purpose.

Do we want to keep this thread going awhile, see if more interest comes up from anyone else, and then decide a later date and time to meet? OR you can decide a date soon and start getting together and let other newbies in while there's room?

I'll send a PM with a link to this thread to see if "ddavis" wants to chime in here as well. Just incase.

Hi Everyone:

Sounds like everyone is ready to go! I don't mind driving anywhere, either. Perhaps we should set a date, but keep the thread open awhile longer in case there any others that would like to join.

By the way, I'm definitely not a gourmet cook! I did make the chocolate/banana bread in this month's issue. It is simply devine...I think I'm addicted:D

Katie--if you need any help/advice about San Diego please feel free. I just made the move here from Boston and I know it takes some adjusting.

I am so happy to find a new supper club starting up in San Diego!

Have room for another interested person? I am in Normal Heights area, happy to drive as well.

Hi, I am very excited to see a San Diego supper club starting up. I live in the La Jolla area, which is pretty far south of most of oyu, but would still be interested in joining. Has a time or date been set yet? How often would the club meet, once a month?

Yeaaaaaa!!!

When do we start? Should we meet first?

Thank you to all of you - I'm TRULY excited to move now knowing I've already got the best kind of people to meet; Fellow Foodies! :D Thanks for the advice offer Emily. I'll definitely be needing it! ---I can just see myself on I5 hunkered over the steering wheel with white knuckles in the right lane staring straight ahead hoping to find the right exit as the other cars are whooshing by me!! ;) :p
yeah, well, anyway... <giggle>

I'll be leaving my long time supper club of 2+ years :( Have any of you been apart of a supper club? It's really fun. All clubs are different though so don't think I'm expecting the same things with you guys, ya know what I mean? We included our spouses and families (and even visitors sometimes) and those who weren't cooking would look after the kids/babies and just generally hang out (uh, talk guy stuff). Rotated houses every month, etc. Some clubs are a weeknight, some are 4 o'clock Sunday type, some do whenever the calendar works for everybody. If you decide just ladies or "cookers", that would be totally fine with me too. I'll be glad for whatever.

No need to wait for me - I knew I was being early. But I figured 'just in case' as I knew I might need to inquire more than once. But here we all are!! I think Emily has a good idea of setting a date and still keeping open ears. Some clubs have maybe 6 "members" or so but other clubs have more and come as their calendars allow. Mixed group each time sort of. So you see; there is just whatever we want to do! I'd love to be in on the loop of things but am not bothered either way.

This is so fun!

Good Morning ~
This is fantastic!! I am also interested in joining the SD Supper Club (if there is still room?). I live a bit South from all of you by
Crowne Point, but do not mind the drive.

I started a Supper Club a few years ago, which turned out to be a lot of fun. We normally had 7-15 ppl. join us with a themed dinner every 6-8 weeks. Unfortunately, we all got too busy to continue, so I am looking forward to participating in another supper club.

Let's get this supper club started!

Hi again! I can't believe this is coming together so quickly, its awesome. A restaurant meeting sounds like a really good idea. If we do it next weekend, anytime Saturday or Sunday morning would be good times for me. This is so much fun.

See you all soon!

Hi,

I would love to join in for the San Diego supper club meeting - next weekend works for me, too. I'm Emily's sister, so she has filled me in on the discussion. We're both very interested. I like the idea of appetizers or desserts only, because of time. Just let me know.

Looking forward to it!

Cara ;)

Hi Everyone,

This is fantastic, so much interest! How about meeting for lunch (Noonish) next Sat. the 13th in Mission Valley and see how many people we have. Is "On the Border" o.k? Just a suggestion I am very excited about getting started. I emailed Katie and she said great just to include her when she gets here.

Can't wait to meet everyone :)

The 13th at noon is fine with me. Should we plan an approximate amount of time to spend, since it sounds like time is a concern for some? How about one hour, and those who want can stay longer?

Hi Everyone-

Wow, everyone seems so excited about this...it's great. Saturday is fine with me. Actually, Sunday would be better...but don't change things on my account

Unfortunately, I will be in Pasadena next Saturday afternoon, but I'm still really interested. Maybe someone can email me directly and keep me in the loop.

I think if we reserve a table, then we can all just ask for that party and we should able to hook up without a problem.

Hello Ladies ~
I am thrilled that a mtg. has been scheduled, but unfortunately
I cannot make it on Saturday due to a previous engangement. Please
keep me posted. (I will email you Dawn)

Thank you & looking forward to meeting all of you!

Warm Regards,

This is so great! :D

I'd love to be e-mailed a "report" just to be kept a little up to date, thanks!

I'll e-mail but just so it's not a secret I'll tell you all:

* I'd love love to cook together. Obviously not all dishes - some will have to be made in advance. But it's so fun to chop, prep, stir, whisk, simmer, toss, or whatever with others who enjoy it too.

* I prefer and appreciate Cooking Light magazine, they've got some pretty good menus most of the time to choose from. But probably we all are aiming to cook "light" at least. No biggie.

That's the only input I'll put in. <hee hee>

Maybe I shouldn't have cluttered the thread with this info - but hopefully it's ok since I won't make the meeting :( Wish I could be there! I'm so excited this is going to work out and I look forward to meeting you all.

Hi SD Club!
I just logged on and found out that you were starting up a supper club - I'd love to join if it's not too late! I live in Hillcrest, but am willing to travel. I'm a single 24 y-o female, so if it's exclusively a couples club, then I guess I'm out, but let me know!
Thanks,

Hi Everyone:

I'm new to this website, but not new to Cooking Light. Just wondering if you started your supper club and if so, if you have room for one more. I'd love to join! If your club is full....anyone else out there that would like to start one?

Thanks, and happy cooking!
