Whenever I respond to a post I get all kinds of error messages, but I seem to be posting alright.

Any suggestions?

I get the same messages and have been wondering what I'm doing wrong. (But my messages are posted, nonetheless.)

Strange goings on...

I keep getting those error messages too.

Some messages say something about too many lines (not on long posts!!)
MANY messages say something about not posting more often than 30 seconds. I'm long exceeding the 30 seconds between posts.

This last message said that I'd exceeded the 30 second posting time and then deleted my text.

Technology!! Harummmph! I quit and won't play anymore tonight.

PS - I've been getting these error messages for at least a month or longer pretty consistently (fortunately, I've only had one message eaten before I could convince it to post.)

The 30-second delay between posts is quite common for message boards. Over on Vivindi Universal Games the delay is 1 minute. These delays prevent spammers from being able to flood forums with posts. Some spammers create script files that log them in and post the same message numerous times. They can get out of hand in a quick hurry if they didn't have the delay. I've seen spammers do this over on VUGs boards in the past.

Some message board programs have this delay built right in and is not something the client (Cooking Light in this case) added on their own.

Furthermore, some message board problems are not going to be solved by the client (CL or VUG) alone. They have to contact the message board software owner (WebCrossing.com is the developer of the message board software that VUG uses.) to fix some issues. That requires more time to fix errors and requires patience on our part. (I know this because I've been moderating message boards for VUG for years and had to explain this in the past to the VUG community. ;) )

Melman -

I get this message as well. Usually it's when I've made a quick reply (like "happy birthday"), and then open a new thread and try to reply. I have found, however, if I leave my screen on the "30 second rule" screen that if I press refresh (don't got "back" to the edit post screen) it will post my response. (Sometimes I have to do this a couple of times because I think I've waited at least 30 seconds, but I get the 30 second rule screen again.) It's terrible when we have something we want to say and the board won't let us say it! ;) :D

At least I'm not alone. <sigh>

PamE, the really strange thing is that I *KNOW* it's been more than 30 seconds between posts when I've gotten that error. If I can type 3 or 4 paragraphs, it's almost a certainty that I'm not typing approximately 1000 wpm. :D The really bad thing is that we use vBulletin software (the bulletin board software that CL uses) where I work, and I'm one of the moderators! I have never stumbled into this problem at work.

Yeah, 1000 wpm is awfully quick. ;)
