I'm looking to start a club in the Montgomery County , MD area. Once a few people have formed the basis of the club, I will arrange a dinner at a restaurant to discuss the following:
-Day of the week/Time for club meetings
-Frequency of Club meetings
-Format of meetings (cooking together, potluck....)
-Location of the meetings
-Size and makeup of the club (only women? co-ed?)
-Basic club rules.
I organized a cooking club several years ago in Ohio, which is quite successful. We had a group of 8 woman who met every six weeks on Sunday afternoon. The host of the session planned a menu, bought the groceries and got all the necessary equipment. We met, cooked, ate and split the grocery bill. It was a lot of fun, but now I'm thinking pot luck would be way easier, but I'm certainly open to the cooking on site as well. Please let me know if you're interested in joining me! Thanks.

Hi! I live in Frederick Co., MD, but am willing to go to Mont. Co. for a supper club. It seems like I have been trying forever to find one close to me.

I belonged to a book/ supper club in Hawaii where I used to live and just loved it! I am very interested in starting one up in my area (I live in Gaithersburg) but I live in a townhouse and hope I have room for everyone! I have been in several start up supper clubs, but they all seem to die out quickly over the issue of When, Where and How Often!
I hope this one takes off. I look forward to meeting everyone!

Thanks to all for your interest. I will give it a few more days and then plan the first meeting. I'm fairly new to the area, so I'm not sure which direction PG county is. Let me know and I will try to tailor the meeting location to that side of Montgomery County.

I live out at Andrews Air Force Base but would drive up to Montgomery county (especially the lower end i.e. Bethesda, Silver Spring). I hope enough people are interested to make this work.

I would also be interested in getting together to discuss a club. I'm in PG county, but not that far from Montgomery County.

I'm also interested in a Montgomery County club! This, too, (like loric) is my first post and I'd love to have a fun cooking outing on a regular basis!

It looks like there are enough people interested to try to organize an initial meeting to discuss ideas. I would be willing to organize if Illana is unable. Please post what day of the week would be best to have an initial meeting. Wednesday evenings are best for me.

I'm interested in this. Please let me know when you'll be getting together to discuss setting up the group. Cheers.
Are there enough people to divide into two groups? Maybe a group closer into DC and one that is farther out?
Any plans yet? I might be interested... :)

Has anyone made any arrangements yet? I'm not familiar enough with Mont. Co. to suggest a meeting place, so I will leave that suggestion to some one else. Any night to meet is good for me....let me know. I can't wait to get started!!

It seems that the person who started the thread is not responding so I will take the ball and set this up. I suggest we set up a meeting on Oct. 15 at a restaurant in Rockville. Please email me at cookonut1@aol.com if you are interested along with any suggestions or ideas you may have about how we should do this. I will then email you with the exact place since I think it will be safer than posting in a public arena. If this date does not work please provide alternates. I know there is another thread for Montgomery County and hope that we will just join together so that there will be enough people to do this. Thanks, and I look forward to meeting all of you.

Yes, I started the other thread in Mongtomery County and agree that we should join these two together to get enough people. Meeting on October 15 at a restaurant in Rockville sounds great to me. I will be there. I'll put this date on my thread so that those there can see it. On Oct. 15, I guess we should talk about how often to meet, what nights to meet (I know that Wednesday nights are out for one of the members on my thread; however, I think that starts after Oct. 15 for her, so she can probably make this date) whether we rotate homes, cook together or do pot-luck, how to divide the bills, etc. I'm looking forward to this. A great restaurant in Rockville where we could meet is called "Taste of Saigon" (delicious and fresh Vietnamese food). They are usually quieter on the weekdays than weekends. Cheers - Jillian

I posted a message on the other thread and I am happy we are joining together. I have given an email address to respond to me so that I can communicate with each of you and let you know the exact location and items to consider for the meeting. Thanks to all that have responded.

Sorry for my absence. Long story short...no power for a week...flood in the basement due to no sump pump. But, I'm back and interested. Unfortunately I can't make the 15th (I play in a community band which reherses on Wed. nights and we have a concert the following weekend), but I will keep looking at the thread to see where and when you meet next. Thanks!
