I forgot to add. I usually make the whole batch, but split it into 2 8x8 pans, bake one and freeze one for later. :D

Question. When you bake the one that has been frozen, how long do you bake it? I'm guessing the cooking time will be a little longer if you put it in the oven frozen. How long does it usually take you to cook a frozen 8x8 pan?

Baked Ziti is gonna be dinner tonight!
Thanks for posting the recipe.:)
Think I could hide some broccoli in there or would it ruin it?

BTW. I still plan to make this because it looks great, but i think that Mastercook info is wrong. Based on my primitive method of adding up calories, I would estimate each serving (1/10) is around 500 calories.
1 pound uncooked ziti 1600
1/2 pound ground beef 400 (at least)
1/2 pound ground sweet Italian sausage 400 (at least)
1 onion -- chopped 30
2 26 oz jars pasta sauce 600
6 ounces provolone cheese -- sliced 660
1 1/2 cups light sour cream 480
6 ounces mozzarella cheese -- shredded 480
1/2 cup parmesan cheese -- grated 260
at least 4910/10
Maybe the Mastercook value is for 1/2 the recipe divided by 10?

Do you like spinach? I would go with spinach before broccoli in this dish.

Anna,
You are right on the money. I had a couple of things that weren't recognized. Here is what I get using full fat sausage, not turkey.

I have never baked it frozen. I pull it out in the am and thaw in the fridge for the day. If I remember, I take it out the night before. I think you're right, longer if baking frozen.

I'm going to make it for a friend who is having a baby. Guess I'll just say to thaw overnight before baking.

Now that I think about it, I did freeze this whole thing once in a 9x13 pan. I forgot about it, because DH took it to school for a banquet. So I'm sorry to say that I don't know how long it took to heat up. It was just one of those "heat up til it's warm" kind of things.
Although I have cooked other things like this (still frozen) and thinking they took forever to cook. It probably is safer to say to defrost it first.

We made the Baked Ziti last night and it was sooo good!
DH & DS's loved it.
I was unable to sneak in spinach cause DH & I made it together and he
nixed the idea.
Will definitely make this more often.
It was easy to put together.
Yum! Thanks!

Do you think I can make this a day ahead and still have good results? I'm short on both time and freezer space
Thanks!

Yes! It's like making lasagna. It gets even better with age. I would assemble the whole thing, stick it in the fridge, and bake the next day.
