I don't post much but have been visiting this site for some time now. It seems like most of the posts are by women. I know a lot of men that are excellent cooks and have great recipes and plenty of cooking knowledge to share. Who's here?

Checking in! Stephanie - female. DH loves to cook, but doesn't love cooking-related bulletin boards (or any non-political, non-technical BBs).

Hello, my name is Kari and I am a woman! :D
While it's no secret that I love to bake, I am not so much into cooking. My DH, on the other hand, loves to cook. He's our resident chef and makes dinner almost every night. I did, however, cook dinner twice in one week a couple weeks ago! And we're both still alive to talk about it! :p

Just for fun, I tried to think of all people with Y chromosomes.
Matt, Dr. Ralph, Docagocs, IrishSpy, Cory, AD (expert baker), Kyle (breadmeister), Ed (low profile these days), special guest appearances by Peter, who else........??????

Grace - I'm an IT as well . . . :) Maybe we should start our own group.
Someone mentioned Kyle - do you mean kirkbyky? I thought she was a girl . . . I didn't know Rissole was a boy either.
Cool! Boys to play with!!!

I was surprised by her reaction. I thought she would love it. (she loves the water and the pool, etc. And she also loves her little sandbox at home.) She wasn't too thrilled with it, though. Not very impressed. She wasn't scared or anything. Just not too impressed. Oh well. I am sure she will LOVE it next year, when she is 2 1/2 years old.

Val, even though we live in Florida, we don't get to the beach very often. I took Mason a few months ago, and it was the first time he had been since he was about 7 months old. I thought he would love it, but he took one look at the ocean, then turned back around towards the steps we had come down, and said 'Steps!' then ran back to them, and just wanted to climb up and down them. The ocean didn't even get a second glance. What is up with these kids? :)

Change DH to DBF, and she could be talking about me. :) John's attentive when I announce "they're discussing "x" on the BBS, but he's expressed no desire to chime in here. That's fine with me... I get "my" space, but also get the enjoyment of menu planning, shopping and cooking together (I haven't been able to convince him that cleaning up together is fun too. :D ).

Pony is a college nickname I haven't gotten rid of :p
Michelle is my Girl name.
DH wanted to make ice cream yesterday, I shoved him away. He took over 2 hours to make guacamole, so I thought it was my turn to be in the kitchen. He loves to create and it is usually a fantastic creation, but I just don't let him do it often :D

Female. Somewhere in between girly-girl and 'butchy chick' :)
Even though DBF and I both love to cook, he still teases me about the board. He just doesn't get it - but he sure does appreciate the recipes and tips I've gotten here!
Debie, Kyle (kirkbyky) is female, but I'm pretty sure Anna was referring to KyleW.
Randi, one of my best friends from high school is named Randi, also female.
I'll add Micah (Suzy's son) to the list of males.
syzygy
09-08-2003, 10:12 AM
To paraphrase Randi R -- female, with an ambidexterous name. (And especially confusing since this board has at least 1 male and 1 female "Leslie".)
But I guess no more confusing than when I was in high school and dated a guy named Leslie. :p  ;)
PS Phoebe, you're a stitch!!:D :D

female... AND I'm even a Julia mommy too. It's a good thing to be I tell ya.
DH does cook, pretty well even, but he's more of a "needs a picture" kind of guy so he sticks to the magazine. Leaves the internet inspiration to me. Men and their visuals  hehe. But seriously, many of the best cooks I know are male, wonder why they don't join in the conversation more?

...and, the last time I checked, I was male. :)
I'm mostly self-taught, just going by what I see in books and on TV. I've thought of going to culinary school, but the low starting pay and the long hours turn me away.

2 x chromosomes here as well!! DH cooked a little before we got married, and for a short while afterward. He was a "wing it" kinda cook...never followed a recipe(except for baking), and his meals usually turned out pretty well. I have now kicked him out of MY kitchen, however, and he left happily!

I'm a broad. (can you believe I once described myself thus--actually, it was a mouthy irreverent East Coast broad --in a job interview, for a job I actually wanted? But I digress)
DBF is a marvelous from-the-hip cook, far more adept with the asian cuisines than me--unfortunately, when we moved in together and got the range of my dream (48" stainless duel fuel dual oven Dacor) I was <ahem> perhaps a wee bit possessive and he is still, 18 months later, mostly afraid to use the d*mn stove. Not that he's afraid of the stove--he's afraid of me . Excessively poor planning on my part. He never posts here though--he's only interested in BBs that involve certain midwestern MLB teams who are certain, somehow, despite being a full game ahead in their division, to dash his hopes yet before the season ends......sigh.....

So did you get that job?
And I'm sure that MLB team will more than likely repeat it's history of not remaining the Number 1 team, if it's the team I'm thinking of!
And I'm female but there are other words that have been used to describe me more accurately that can't be printed here!
