I was wondering if someone could let me know what kind of noodles are found in the asian cole slaw salad from the August 2000 issue of CL. I want to get them on the way home and forgot to write down what kind of curly noodles were used. Are they like Ramen noodles or what? Thanks!

Kendra, They are Japanese curly noodles. And yes they are like Ramen noodles but without the seasoning packet and they aren't fried. I always find them in the ethnic section of my not very adventurous grocery store (no tofu or fresh herbs besides parsley)--Lisa

Another name for them is chuka soba. I couldn't find them in my grocery store so I ordered them from www.ethnicgrocer.com (http://www.ethnicgrocer.com.) I'm making this for my CL dinner club this weekend. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

One more question - how many noodles does the recipe call for? Thanks, Kendra

It calls for two five-ounce packages. This is to make 12 servings. I'm going to make a half recipe, since my cooking club is small and we always have a ton of food at our dinners.
