How long is filet mignon good for?

I had some frozen filets and put them in the fridge to defrost. How long are they good for in the fridge?

red meat should be fine for several days.
They age beef for better taste but it's at optimal temps/humidity.

Oh good! So as long as it's packaged properly (it's in vacuum-sealed plastic) do you think it would be safe a week later? I usually am very good about cooking meat right away, but I got this out last week and for a variety of reasons haven't been able to cook it and I don't want it to go to waste, if I can help it.

If it is in a vaccum package, it is probably okay. Smell it when you open it to be sure.
