Hello all! I live in East Stroudsburg, PA and have recently moved up from Atlanta, GA. I would love to be a part of a Supper Club. Is there one already formed in this area? If not, anyone interested in getting one started?

Hi Donna,
I to have recently moved to East Stroudsburg from the west coast. I haven't as of yet heard of a Supper Club in this area but would love to be a part of one or get one started. Let's continue talking and take action.

I would be interested in joining, too. I live in NW NJ, but not too far from East Stroudsburg. Would LOVE to start talking details!

Donna or Lea have either one of you ever been a member of a Supper Club?
I have only read about them and how they operate. Let me know so that we can start talking and get one up and running. :)

I've never been part of a supper club but am anxious to join or form one! Been trying for a bit, but cant seem to get suitable interest. Since there are three of us, I think it would be a good time to get started. I've done some reading about supper clubs and now that we've got interest, I think we should plan a date to meet - kind of an informal get-together at a cafe or whatever to talk about details. How does that sound to you guys?

I'm up for setting a date to get aquainted and putting our heads together to form our Supper Club. My time is pretty flexable as I don't work but am quite busy from now through the 4th.

LeaBill8

I've got a full schedule until after the 4th, too. But that's good as it gives Donna a chance to respond. Since she did the original post, we should wait to see if she's agreeable to all this. I think we should check back on Wednesday or Thursday of next week and see if she's had a chance to post, then we can take the next steps. That also gives others a chance to see the thread and post too. What are your thoughts?

JSquared

LeaBill8 ... I saw you also responded on the Bergen County posting as well ... I am interested in joining as well ... but not sure how far E. Strousberg is from where I am but so far this seems to be the closest and with the most interest.

All ... I'd love to be a part of the initial gathering as well. My schedule is not the most flexible but I'll do my best to be a part of this.

thanks!

So far it looks like there are three of us. I still think we should wait a few more days to see if Donna responds to all this, as she is the person who did the original post.

I'm very excited that we have interest and can't wait for us to get together! I will check back in tomorrow to see if anyone else has responded, especially Donna. If not, then I think we should go ahead and start up with an informal meeting somewhere. We can work out the details and find some middle ground as Jsquared is in Bergen County and Benay is in PA.

Does anyone have any ideas that they want to share?

I hope that everyone had a great 4th of July as summer keeps marching on. I don't know why Donna hasn't replied and I am sending good thoughts that everything is ok with her. I am so glad that JSquared has come aboard with interest in a Supper Club. I have no idea where anyone lives but I am sure that a great place to meet is awaiting us so that we can begin our new club. I am looking forward to it and will keep checking in on the postings.

I have been interested in a supper club for ahwile, but never seemed to know how to start. When I saw East Stroudsburg, I knew I had to reply. Please let me know the details. I live in Lake Valhalla.

Ok, there are four of us now wanting to join. Even though Donna hasn't responded yet, I think we should get started. Since we're going to need a middle ground to meet, I think we should all respond with where we live so that we can come up with a meeting place that's doable for all of us. Everyone should also respond to their availablitiy over the next two to three weeks so we can arrange a time that works. Once everyone has responded with that, I'll go online and find a restaurant or cafe where we can meet and post that along with the date and time. I think we should also keep this post open so that others can join and especially for Donna. How does that sound to everyone?

Do you all think that maybe we should start using personal email now to get things rolling or is it better to wait until we meet?

I'm glad to hear that myblackpoodle wants to join also. I think you live just a few miles from me. I live in Winona Lakes subdivision in Marshalls Creek exit 309 off of I 80. I have a wedding to go to on the 13 thru 16 of July. After that I am pretty much free. I will work around everyone elses tight schedules.

I do live nearby to Winona Lakes. I also take exit 309 to 447 then 209 I don't go straight on the other 209. I'm by the new GreeneBerry's chocolate shop and the um "massage parlor" right past the JTL middle school so I'm central to downtown Stroudsburg so there are lots of meeting places.

I'm available on the 22nd but not the weekend after that. Looking forward to hearing from all.

So far it looks like we're shooting for the weekend of August 5-6. My husband and I are going to a Mets game on the 5th, but Sunday the 6th is definitely good. We haven't yet heard back from Jsquared, but can everyone keep that Sunday open? We'll wait for a few more days to see if Donna or Jsquared respond and then we'll firm up a place. Does that work for everyone?

Benay Furfari

I will keep the 6th of August open also. How about using our email addresses. I know that was brought up a few days ago and it is alright by me.

I'll keep the 6th open. Please keep me posted.

Right now it looks like the three of us since we havent heard back from jsquared or Donna, but that's perfectly fine. We're all agreed on the date, August 6, which is great. Just a note that we'll need to be flexible on the location to meet if jsquared responds, since she is coming from Wayne, NJ, which is eastern NJ. But I'm thinking that we can set something up by you since you both live close to each other. Is there a coffee shop or cafe that we can meet at that you can recommend?

We also need to firm up a time to meet. I was thinking late morning/early afternoon. How is 11:30?

Just an FYI that I don't mind leading us, since I seem to have fallen into that role, but PLEASE let me know if you guys want to add something or you aren't in agreement with anything I'm saying. I've never formed a supper club and I'm just kinda winging it as we go. But I'm totally excited that we've gotten to the point of meeting and am looking forward to meeting each of you!

Lea

P.S I found a way to get email addresses and I''ve sent personal emails to Donna and JSquared just to confirm their interest. Just don't want anyone to feel like we went ahead without them!

JSquared

My apologies ... I haven't checked this board in a while.

Lea, thanks for the email, I did respond.

The 6th is fine with me ... whether we do it during the day or the eveing, I'll need to get a babysitter ... so please consider my attendance at this tentative (more leaning toward a confirmed). I just need to work out the details.

I look forward to meeting everyone.

So glad to include you, Jennifer!

With the addition of Jennifer, I think we need to come up with a central location for our first meeting on August 6 at 11:30. I'm thinking someplace directly off Route 80, maybe Netcong? There's a Dunkin Donuts right off the exit there. There's also a Panera Bread, which I've been dying to try. Do either of those places sound ok? If not, I can find others, but just not right off the highway. Let's firm this up.

I'm excited to meet all of you!

Hello everyone! I had a friend tell me that this post was up and running. I had no idea. . .the reason I'm responding now is because this was an old post I began back in 2003 when I had just moved to East Stroudsburg. I actually have since moved back to Atlanta, GA and have been back here for 2 years. I will say I wish all you guys had been around in 2003! I did, however, manage to help get a club together while I was in PA. My husband and I joined 2 other couples and met every 6 weeks while we lived there. We had a great time, so I certainly encourage you all to make this happen. It is a lot of fun and a great way to meet others who love to cook and eat!

Good luck to you all in this endeavor. It makes me smile knowing that this old post has been ressurected and that it may bring you all together in food and fellowship. Let me know how it works out for you all.

Best of luck,
Donna Borges

I think Panera Bread is a good choice. Casual and nice atmosphere. Good coffee and of course bread, etc. I haven't been to the one on Rt 80 Is that exit 27? It's about 1/2 hour from ES I guess that is central.

Looking forward to meeting.

It looks like we're confirmed for our 11:30 meeting on Sunday, August 6 at Panera Bread! I will email Jennifer to make sure that this is good for her as well and then I will email everyone with directions.

I am very excited and can't wait to meet each one of you!

I received confirmation from Jennifer that we're good to go on the 6th at 11:30, so we are now officially confirmed. YEA!

I emailed directions to Benay and to Jennifer, but I couldn't to Nancy, since there wasn't an email listed for her. Nancy, please advise as to where to send directions. If you don't feel comfortable posting it here, please email me at leabill8@optonline.net so that I can forward the directions to you.

Please be prepared to exchange personal contact information and with a calendar so that we can set up the first date. We'll want to discuss how we're going to operate, so let's think about that in the time leading up to our meeting and come with ideas to share!

My apologies to all! I had an unexpected situation with my oldest daughter and had to handle that and I didnt have any way to contact anyone.

From the other posts, it looks like Nancy didn't show either, but I still think we can make it work with the three of us! Did the two of you put anything together that you would like to share? Should we set up another meeting? Or should we just get down to cooking?

Again, I'm so sorry I couldn't be there! I'm still looking forward to meeting all of you and to cooking with you!

Hi Lea, Jennifer and I thought that something had come up for you not to be there. We missed you and hope that the situation got resolved. We exchanged email address and phone numbers and had a nice time learning about each other. I would like to just start cooking! We can learn more and make new plans while cooking something fun and easy the first time. Let us know what you think.

As we arrived at Panera Bread, my husband asked me how I would know anyone. I assumed I would see a group of people chatting getting to know one another. Maybe I was at the wrong place. I didn't know who was there and I walked around a bit seeing if I could tell. I didn't bother people who looked like they were enjoying their breakfast.

I am willing to try again.

It certainly seems like everyone is still looking to get together and form this club, which is very exciting! Benay seems to just want to get cooking. How does everyone else feel about that? If we're in agreement, I would be happy to host the first meeting since I seem to be the most central. If everyone is still in favor of meeting first, please let me know and we can arrange another time to meet. Either way works with me!
