Okay, I need help. Due to the fact that Dellnet.com has merged, been bought by, whatever, with msn.com, I have been forced to change my email address. So, I went back in to my profile and did the "change email address" thing as noted. Now, when I try to post, I don't get the automatic insert of my name and password like I used to. Anyone else run into this problem? Suggestions? THoughts? Thanks.

Try posting this on the Technical Support BB. You'll probably get a pretty quick response.

Where is the Technical Support BB? I tried to find it, but did not see it on the page where you get to this one, the Healthy Body(?) one and the Supper Club one. Any suggestions?

Darn it, Beth, I was hoping to duplicate the problem you're having, because I'm going the opposite way (my name pops up twice, one of which doesn't seem tied to my password, causing the CL screen to tell me no one named Gail is registered. Ha!) When I contacted Maelynn about it, the techies thought it was a browser issue, rather than anything directly related to this site. They suggested I reload my software, but personally I'd rather put bamboo slivers under my fingernails...

Obviously, I don't have a cure for your problem if your browser isn't asking if you want it to save your e-mail and password. (Lazy browser.) I did want to mention, that while Mamasue was nice enough to give you a link to the techie board, if you go down to the bottom of your screen and play with the "jump to" box, you'll find the means to travel to that board in the future without the link. (Sort of like Dorothy's ruby slippers.)

Good luck with the flip side of my annoying situation. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

Gail, Gail, Gail, I should have known you were a troublemaker too! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif I have found how to get the the tech support BB, but oddly, you can only get to it from the jump box or the "community" line at the top of the Great Food BB. If, say, you were on the home page and clicked on Community, you only see this page, Healthy Living and Supper Club. HMMMMMMM.
Anyway, there is no way I could reload my software, as I have no idea how to do it, but I am not having this problem at any other websites. I am not sure what you mean by "asking me for my email and password", but my computer does that when I log on. Is it supposed to when I come on this site?
I posted a questions on Tech support yesterday, but no one has answered it yet.

I know it sounds like I am being really lazy about not wanting to bother to type this stuff in, but sometimes when I type in Beth Y, it then puts in a password, each time I hope it is fixed and submit the reply and then get that nasty message telling me that I have used the wrong password. I wonder what password it is using????? Oh, I guess I am just going to have to get over it. THanks for listening.

I don't think you're lazy. It's truly annoying. Maelynn did tell me the problem solution to these things will vary according to the browser, the software, the version and the computer used, and they suspected it was just a quirk of my particular program.

What I meant about your computer asking you to save the password is that on my antiquated verson of Windows (95), the first time I log onto a new program requiring a password, I get a message stating something to the effect of "Would you like Windows to remember this password for future applications of this program?" If I say yes, it stores it, which is why the little window pops up with my name already in it. It's possible you did this once long ago when you first logged on to this site, and your computer now assumes it's still storing and utilizing the correct information. In my case, somehow Windows registered me me a second time without a password-- don't know how-- and if I accidentally highlight that second box, I get the annoying "We have no Gail registered" message.

Believe me... if I run across any fix for this situation, you'll be the first person I contact, but so far I'm stumped. Sorry.

Me again.

Try this. It may not work for you, but then again, you never know...

Go into Preferences instead of Profile. Is your computer cookie-enabled? If not, as Jean-Luc Picard would say, make it so. Ask the system to delete any cookies it has set. Then go back in again and reset your preferences. Note that thingy about asking the program to store your user name and password on your browser for one year and say "yes." See if that helps.

I'm thinking that since you changed, maybe just maybe you had to reset browser settings, since your email address and password might be linked together in the system, and if the system automatically stored your old information, but hasn't been "told" to store your new, it might just take some simple programming...

Anyway, give it a try. Worst thing that happens is no change at all.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif
