Hi ya everyone! First of all...big thanks to Kari for all her help with Birthday Wishes. She did great and I appreciate it! ;)
We couldn't have asked for better weather. Not one drop of rain, clear skies, sunny with temperatures in the 70-80's. We stayed in Boothbay Harbor for 3 nights and it was delightful. Lots of shops to browse in and good food to eat. We did take a Lighthouse cruise which was great but pictures didn't come out to well. I took a picture of a great little place where we had lunch after the Railroad ride and tour. Its a little trailer situated on a piece of land near the centerah of Boothbay. Bet's is the name....the portions are large. One serving of Fish Fry contains 3 good filets of fish with loads of fries. Delicious and filling and all for $10.00 which feeds two people. Ebe Tide was a nice little place for breakfast if you are interested in a traditional menu. We traveled from Boothbay to Bar Harbor along Route 1 which is the coastal route. The 3 hours ride was picturesque going through Rockville, Camden, Lincolnville.
Bar Harbor again was delightful. Cruise ships coming and going each day that we were there with tourist filling up the streets of Bar Harbor. September is a good month for Bar Harbor with cruise ship tourist spending their money. :D Aside from the shopping we took a Whale Watch cruise for 3 1/2 hours and experienced sightings of 4 hunchbacks. What a thrill! Our favorite eating places in Bar Harbor were Galyn's for their famous slow roasted Prime Rib; Testa's for their Earlybird special of Taste of Maine (Clam Chowder, salad, potato, lobster, blueberry pie with steamers added as extra); 2 Cats Inn for breakfast was awesome. Not just your traditional ho-hum breakfast fare. They do have a website (www.2catsbarharbor.com) but it doesn't seem to show the menu. Menu includes Eggs Benedict both traditional or veggie which is over homemade biscuits; Tofu scramble with tomato, avocado, onion; Breakfast Burrito; Mediterranean Breakfast (grilled sundried tomato polenta on a bed of fresh spinach with two poached eggs, homemade caponata and feta cheese; Omelettes, French Toast, Pancakes, etc.
We also traveled through Acadia Park and on top of Cadallic Mountain again this year. View was breathtaking! Another day was devoted to driving through the other harbor towns.
Glad to be back home and now onto our regular routines. BTW, this past week cost me 4 pounds gained but it was worth it! :D
