Is it ok to wear linen after Labor Day? I know you're not supposed to wear it before Easter, but I'm not sure when the acceptable time period ends. And since I know it's Labor Day for white shoes...
And yes, I know that these are antiquated rules. But I have to go to a volunteer breakfast at the library tomorrow, and many people here in town still adhere to this sort of thing.
It's a shirt similar to this one (although in a turquoise), worn over a black shirt, sort of as a jacket.

I say no problem. But then I wore white sandals today too.....(but then I'm in California...)
In all seriousness, I think it looks just fine for fall, it's got the longer sleeves, and linen is a nice material. Go for it!

Go for it. I am going to wear linen all this week.

I would say wear it. It is not sleeveless and I would say it can be worn in any season.

A linen shirt such as the one you show, with a layer underneath is appropriate until the end of September, or the first frost. The old rule of thumb is based on linen shifts or pants (slacks as the old ladies say) and shouldn't be worn after the Labor Day weekend. Generally if you can add turtlenecks to your wardrobe, you must ditch all linen pieces.
There, aren't you glad the fashionista is here!! I have no idea where I got all this information, but I do.:)

Thanks everybody! I wore it, and was suitably dressed. :) I noticed a few other women there with linen shirts on as well.
Of course some areas nearby had a frost last week. But my town was spared, so I was fashionably correct.;)
I have absolutely zero fashion sense. Glad I've got you all here to help. Now I just need the Fab 5 (from Queer Eye for the Straight Guy) to come pick out my wardrobe!
