One of the nice things about losing weight is that, if you have hung on to your 'skinny' clothes, as I did, you have the pleasure of being able to fit into them again. And if it's been long enough since you wore most of them (they predate my current job by a bit) you have a 'new' wardrobe.

Currently, I'm wearing the cocoa-colored wool gabardine suit I wore to my interview at this employer's office. It was a little tight when I wore it then, but fits fine now.

I was emboldened by this to get out another suit I've always liked. The jacket fits just fine, and I thought "Well, the skirt was always a little smaller than the jacket, but hey! Who knows?"

I put the skirt on. Well, maybe I should say that I poured myself into the skirt. And sighed.

I guess I'll wait a while before trying on the really snazzy red number with the black collar. Maybe by Christmas... ;)

Good job on the wool suit! Trying on clothes and having them be closer and closer to fitting is very motivating! Kind of like shopping, for free! :D

Keep up the good work!

Diana~

That's so awesome that you're fitting into some of your 'skinny' clothes...I save mine too, I guess I feel like if I get rid of them I'm giving up hope or something. Can't have that!!! Instead of sighing over the skirt, focus on the 'new' things you can wear ;) Celebrate progress! I'm trying to take my own advice here, too...lol.

Anyway, congrats and good luck on keeping up with your progress! :)

I work in a clothing manufacture so I had my clothes progressively taken in as I went along. I have to say though that it is not as fun as getting new clothes. I'm doing some of that now.

I also kept a bunch of skinny clothes. I think all along I felt that if I finally discarded them, that would admitting defeat. I was worried if I didn't have the ultimate goal in my closet (smaller clothes), I might give up.

I'm very happy to say I had a weekend of trying on old clothes. I've consistently wearing 12's for several years. I started with the 10's in the closet. They fit!! I think every single size 10 I tried on will be wearable in public.

It got better though. I even managed to pull on some 8's that aren't THAT far away from wearing outside the privacy of my bedroom!!!!! :D :D

Even the little black dress from my reunion 3 years ago (size 10) will fit again!! I was worried I couldn't wear it again.

I saw someone today I hadn't seen in a few months. Her first comment was 'ok..how much weight have you lost and how did you do it!!' Gotta love it when they finally notice!!!!!! :D

That is sweet victory... getting into those skinny clothes. My little black dress is getting closer too.

It's such a positive thing but, when DH lost a lot we had to buy him successively smaller wardrobes. He had been a 48, went to a 38 in about 2 years and is now almost a 36. It got expensive! Boy the thrift shops loved us too. We gave away garbage bags full of clothing. The worst were the suits. Hard to give away something you paid that much for and hardly wore.

I agree. I did the same thing and I am now wearing the 10's from a few years back! In fact, I think its time to get rid of all the 14's and the 12's that look big and sloppy.....:D:D:D

Congrats Diana!

I too, have been loosing weight (down aprox 22.5). On Saturday, I wore this cordoroy shirt I ordered on-line from REI 2 years ago, that when I got was extremely tight and it barely buttoned. When I tried it on Saturday morning, now it's big and baggy. What a great feeling!

:D :)

That's why you should SHOP at the thrift shops and donate, too! I won't get on my soapbox about thrift shops, but it's an adult's treasure hunt to find those little/not used clothes with very expensive labels for next to nothing (and for $1.00 on dollar day!). It's amazing what people will give away - all the best name brands. I've totally redone my wardrobe once I reached goal and I don't think I paid more than $5 for any item in it. Liz Claiborne, Ralph Lauren, Gap, Old Navy, Dockers, Evan Picone, etc. Nothing but the best in my closet.

oops I said I wouldn't get on my soapbox! :o But it's so much FUN!!! :D

Ahem...Kim...you can toss those 12s and 14s my way if you are feeling so inclined :D

Like Loren, I LOVE to shop and I LOVE deals so I love to thrift shop :D I have had to replace my wardrobe several times in the past 3 years and could not do it buying off the rack. Then I found out just exactly was in these thrift shops... Rena Rowan, Ralph Lauren, Gap, Evan Piccone, Anne Taylor...really fabulous stuff once in awhile. I'm getting ready to go again because I don't have a lot of winter clothes that fit me and I need them especially for work.

But the original thread was CELEBRATIONS!!! WOO HOO DIANA!!!! I bet you look AND feel fabulous! Congratulations!

(Just to add to the thrift store thought: I'm currently wearing an Evan Piccone suede jacket ($3 or so) and a brown Limited turtleneck. I just thought it was awesome you mentioned the jacket's designer ... ;))

I went from a size 10-12 to size 4 (sometimes 2). And I love to clothes shop, so I definitely sent bags to goodwill/salvation army. Sad thing is, some things still had tags on them! I've stabilized here now, and I am trying to wear all the clothes I have in my closet. I whipped through 6 & 8 quickly - had to replace my wardrobe twice! Not dropping anymore weight - but that doesn't stop the shopping part!
