A couple of great guys I used to work with have written, directed, and produced a movie that was featured at Sundance this year, as well as being presented at the closing night ceremonies of the San Francisco International Film Festival. It's going to 10 cities in October, and I thought I'd pass along this note from the pair who made the movie. If you have any interest in seeing it, well, I'm here to help spread the word!

"My favorite film at Sundance... there is a beauty to this movie, a
genuine feeling for the mystery and wonder of love and attraction."
Mick La Salle, The San Francisco Chronicle

"The movie has a sweet offhand romantic tone, in which old fashioned
notions of love encounter the alienation of demanding occupations."
Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun Times

Dearest friends and family,
As many of you may know, Dopamine, our first feature film, is being theatrically released through the Sundance Channels' new Film Series. On October 10th, 2003, we will be in 10 cities at selected Loews theatres.
While promotion of the series has been more than we ever could have hoped for, it is ultimately word of mouth that we will live or die on. And as is the fate of all films, blockbuster or independent, opening weekend is critical.
While we are guaranteed a two week minimum, the box office receipts of
the first few days will determine how long we will stay in the Loews theatres beyond the 2 weeks, and will also determine alternate theatres within that metropolitan area. It will also affect what other cities the film will roll out to. While we will be doing a press tour before opening weekend, it will be very important to have word of mouth continue once we have passed through.

Thus our plea: since we can not be in 10 places at once and don't necessarily have a network of friends and family in each of our 10 cities, we're asking you as friends, family and/or supporters of Dopamine to pass the word on to yours. The cities we will be premiering in are:
New York
Boston
Washington, DC.
Baltimore
Detroit
Chicago
Dallas,
Seattle
San Francisco
Los Angeles

If you know of anyone in those cities who have an interest in supporting independent film, and filmmakers who are driven by a passion to tell a story close to their hearts, then please spread the word.

Dopamine, October 10th at Loews theatres. Opening weekend is key!

On behalf of the entire Dopamine team, thanks for listening.

I'll definitely be watching in Detroit. My friends and I are currently working on a film up here in Michigan so I know what hard work your friends went through to get it made.

Wish them luck.

I just wanted to thank everyone who's taken note of this film and considered seeing it or telling a friend; it's gotten very good reviews and, well, we all like to see our friends succeed, right?
Thanks again.
