Hi! I just finished my first batch of ice cream in my new Cuisinart ice cream maker and it is awesome! Thanks Jewel for the YUMMY peanut butter & chocolate ice cream recipe. Those flavors are about my favorite of all time!
So now, I'm ready to move on to another favorite--lemon ice cream. Marble Slab makes an awesome, super creamy one that I'd love to try and duplicate.
Does anyone have any recipes to share? I am hoping to get the "Ultimate Ice Cream" book soon but in the meantime I'm relying on online sources for my recipes.
Thanks so much!
(BTW, I tried doing a search for past posts on this and UGH! I just cannot figure out this search engine--it just never seems to capture the whole word series for me--even when I add the AND command in there--any tips or is it not just me?)

I just read a recipe for Lemon Ice Cream in the new "Southern Living--Our Best Recipes, Volume 1" supplement (great supplement!) that I picked up this week at Chapters.
This one doesn't use an ice cream maker!
Here you go; not sure how close it will be to the one you remember:
Lemon Ice Cream
Makes 1 1/2 quarts
Prep: 8 min.
Freeze: 6 hrs.
2 cups sugar
2 cups milk
2 cups half-and-half
2 teaspoons grated lemon rind
1 cup fresh lemon juice
6 drops yellow liquid food coloring
Garnish: fresh mint sprigs
1. Stir together first 6 ingredients in a large bowl. Pour mixture into a 13 x 9 inch pan; cover and freeze for at least 2 hours.
2. Process half of mixture in a food processor or blender until smooth. Remove from processor, and set aside. Repeat procedure with remaining mixture. Return all of mixture to pan.
3. Cover and freeze at leat 4 hours or until firm. Garnish if desired.
Hopefully someone will come up with an ice cream maker tried and true recipe for you. :-)

I LOVE this recipe. It's a frozen yogurt recipe, but by using yogurt cheese (drained yogurt as directed in the recipe) it comes out very creamy. It's got the perfect sweet-tangy flavor combo!
Lemon-Ginger Frozen Yogurt
Recipe courtesy Alton Brown
Show: Good Eats Episode: Yogurt: Good Milk Gone Bad
8 cups plain yogurt
1/2 cup light corn syrup
3/4 cup granulated sugar
3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 teaspoons finely grated lemon peel
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger
1/4 cup sliced crystallized ginger
Place yogurt in a cheesecloth-lined colander set over a bowl. Cover and refrigerate for 12 hours. At end of 12 hours, discard the liquid and cheesecloth.
In a bowl combine the drained yogurt, corn syrup, sugar, lemon juice, lemon peel, and fresh ginger. Transfer mixture to ice cream maker and process per manufacturer's instructions, about 25 minutes. Transfer frozen yogurt to an airtight container, fold in crystallized ginger and freeze for 2 hours.
