does anyone have a good recipe for the greek yogurt(or sour cream) sauce that you put on gyros? I have tried several and haven't found the ultimate one yet. Tastes fattening but it isn't. If there is such a thing. Thanks alot

There's a gyro recipe posted here that follows with a sauce and I think the only thing I do extra to it is add crushed garlic and some dill.
I'll see if I can find that thread and post it here.

It's called Tzatziki - you have to drain the yogurt first. You can do that with a yogurt strainer or with paper towels. Or a strainer with a coffee filter set into it.
If you use full fat plain yogurt you'll get that rich taste you want. Or 2% yogurt works well too.
Then mix with peeled, seeded, chopped (or grated) cucumbers, a squeeze of lemon juice, a crushed clove of garlic (or two), a dash of Extra Virgin Olive oil, salt and pepper, and dill if you want (or not - I've seen it done both ways at Greek restaurants). It's my favorite. Enjoy.
