Hi! I am new to this CL bulletin board, and am enjoying reading the messages... but what in the world is "DH"?!! I have seen these initials frequently, and even from the context I can't tell for sure what it means. "Dear Husband"?! "Dreadful Husband"?! Or am I way off base?! Thanks!

You are correct! What you make the "D" stand for depends on how you feel about him at the moment!! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif But usually, people are saying "dear"!

Usually it's Dear (or darling, etc.) husband but it could mean the other at times! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

MY DH says from the next room, "Honey? Did you say something?" !!!!

Sometimes, it's D*** husband. Only on his pouty nights, though! http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/wink.gif

If you are un-married as I am, DB works nicely in place of DH. http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif (The B is for boyfriend) I like this much better than SO for significant other. It never occured to me until I read a similar thread on this board that the "D" was dear - I had always read it as darling (I call my DB darling). http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/smile.gif

OK - another question!!! And just when I thought I had it figured out!!! Just read "DH and DD" in someone's post! So who/what is "DD"??!!! By the context, it couldn't have been the DOG?!!! And second question - I suppose DK could be the kids?! Thanks! Lynn

DD is dear daughter. DS is dear son.

I noticed that on all my posts I say "my husband" and have not used DH. I've decided it's because I enjoy saying (and writing) it so much. After all, it's only been 8 months http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/biggrin.gif

I'm with you LGBurns, it's been four and a half months for me and I get a thrill saying "husband" too. It took a while to get used to saying "huband" instead of "fiance" and that was a tough transition from "boyfriend." He gets a thrill out of refering to me as his wife too. He travels 100% for his job and the other day I got a fax from him addressed to his "lovely, fair-skinned wife whom I miss very much when I am away." That definitely earns him a "Darling Husband" reference. The fair-skinned refers to my pale, Irish complexion in contrast to his olive, Italian complexion.

after 5.5 -- oops, 6 on Feb. 18th, '01, I still get a kick out of husband...most of the time. He's been in the doghouse for a week, tho... http://www.cookinglight.com/bbs/rolleyes.gif
