Supper Club in Memphis TN area

I am interseted in joining/starting a supper club in the Memphis, Cordova Germantown area. I am moving to Memphis TN to attend Union University an persue my second BS in Nursing around the end of December. I have enjoyed cooking light for 2 years now and I think a supper club would be alot of fun. My roommate, a fellow nursing student and my mom are also very intersted. I would appreciate any feedback.

I am very interested in getting a supper club started. I have been a
longtime reader of Cooking Light and always want to try lots of the recipes but have a very picky husband who won't try anything!! I live in the the Bartlett area and my mom (who would also be interested) lives in Germantown, so anything around there would be great. I guess we could see how many people are interested and set a time and place to meet to get things started. Maybe we should wait until after the first of the year since you won't be in Memphis until December. Just let me know and keep in touch- I am so excited to get things started.

Hi Jen,

I never heard anything from Rachel back when I sent a question to her so I have never really gotten anything started. I did find there is a supper club in Memphis that already has members but I never got a chance to meet with them. Plus they meet on the weekend and I was looking more for something during the week. If you are still interested maybe we could get some people together and try. I know I have 2 or 3 neighbors who may be interested too. Just let me know.

Thanks for responding. Weeknights are better for me, too. Being new here, I don't know of anyone else who might be interested but I'm sure my husband would be (he doesn't know it yet but. . .;) ). The only problem I might have is that we live in downtown Memphis so we probably couldn't get out to Bartlett or Germantown too early but you could let me know what you were thinking.

Did you ever form a supper club? My husband and I moved to Memphis about 2 years ago and just recently moved to Cordova. We would be interested in joining a supper club. Any interest?:)

Nothing formed yet but my husband and I are still interested. We live downtown but would be willing to travel. I've never done a supper club before but think it would be a lot of fun!:)

I think it would be a lot of fun too. We have never done one either. I'll post another message to see if there is anymore interest. I think we should start one anyway even if it is just us for now.

I agree. I don't know how big they typically are but it might be best to start small anyway. I'll PM you so we can discuss details.

I haven't noticed many (if any) others on the board in Memphis but maybe they're just lurking. If you're out there - let us know!:)

Sorry I never got back to you about getting things started!! I got an email saying there was activity on this post so saw that someone else is interested. I am still wanting to join in, so let me know what you all have discussed. I live in the Bartlett area and know maybe 1 or 2 other people who might be interested too. Know my husband wouldn't want to come though, hope that would be ok. Just let me know what you all are thinking.

No problem about the absent husband - while my husband is interested (he's willing to go anywhere that there is food;)), I don't view supper clubs as couple things. Are Bartlett and Cordova close? Excuse my geograpy ignorance, still new to Memphis. Anyone have ideas on the best way to organize this?
